Wine of the Month Club: Backsberg Tread Lightly Sauvignon Blanc 2013

The WomenStuff team absolutely loves wine. In fact, at our headquarters we have a shrine (also known as a wine rack) dedicated to wine! Our love of wine inspired us to come up with a genius plan to drink even more wine and be able to call it work and hence the ‘Wine of the Month Club’ was born. From this day forth the WomenStuff team will sample fabulous wines all in the name of research and each month we will elect our very favourite ‘Wine of the Month’ for you to try along with us. It’s JUST like a book club … but not boring. This month’s ‘Wine of the Month’ is Backsberg’s Tread Lightly Sauvignon Blanc 2013. Keep reading to see why we liked it so much.
There’s so much we love about this wine it’s almost impossible to figure out where to start. Backsberg’s environmentally friendly wine comes in a PET bottle (basically plastic) and is super light and easy to transport. The bottle is easily recyclable and won’t break when being shared in the great outdoors (who ever said hiking with a bottle of wine in your backpack was a bad idea was clearly a misinformed fool).
In addition to being pretty much unbreakable the wine is also really delicious. It’s easy drinking and pairs beautifully with summery foods such as salads, cold meats, chicken and fish. If you’re into all that wine mambo jambo then you might also like to know that the Tread Lightly Sauvignon Blanc 2013 is bursting with aromas of gooseberry and passion fruit and is a great fruity wine for those who love a good balance of sweetness and natural acidity. If you’re really keen to get an A-plus for effort then you can also check out the official tasting notes here.
And now, for the important bit. The price! Backsberg’s Tread Lightly Sauvignon Blanc 2013 is available from Pick n Pay and will set you back a meager R47 per bottle.
