Urban Decay Born To Run Collection Launches In South Africa! [Review]

Urban Decay Born To Run

If you’re a makeup junkie then you’ve probably already heard the great news; the lust-worthy new Urban Decay Born To Run Collection has just launch in South Africa! With 3 new vice lipsticks, a setting spray, essential liners, and a show-stopping new eyeshadow palette, this all-in-one collection has taken the makeup industry by storm over the last week. Everyone is clambering to get their hands on the new range, especially the eyeshadow palette, which is jam packed with to-die-for colours that are perfect for creating neutral looks. I got my hands on the new Urban Decay Born To Run eyeshadow palette to see if it truly is worth the splurge.

The great thing about the new Urban Decay Born To Run eyeshadow palette is it’s an all-in-one solution for makeup junkies who simply can’t bear to leave their Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes at home when travelling. If you find yourself packing multiple kits for one look when you travel, the Born To Run eyeshadow palette is basically the palette you’ve been waiting for. The pan offers 21 rich, super-pigmented shadow colors and features a number of soft, daytime-ready neutrals (basically what made the Naked palette so good) as well as a few bold, eye-popping shades. The variety of shades available in the Born to Run palette means that you can create a wide range of looks with just this one palette in your bag. The larger than life palette also has a super handy full-size mirror which makes creating looks on the go a breeze and the hard, durable cover can stand up to the hardships of travel. If you’re a longtime fan of the Naked palette series then you’ll adore this new addition mainly because it isn’t just another iteration of the best-seller. While the Naked series offers versatile, universally flattering coulors, the Born to Run Palette takes that to the next level and dare I say it; might just be better than the Naked palette (I said it!).

Urban Decay Born To Run
The true magic of this palette for me is that it not only offers something for everyone with a whopping 21 shades, but the wide range of shades also open up the doors for plenty of creativity and give you the ability to create a bold look wherever you are. The shadow colors are also soft and flattering for all skin tones and the wide variety of finishes, from satin to shimmer to metallic, to give you even more opportunities to experiment. The possibilities really are endless – create subtle definition with creamy, light neutrals like Breakaway and Weekender Or, blend Baja (a burnt orange matte), into the lids and smudge Accelerate (a reddish copper metallic) into the crease for a sunset-hued smoky eye.

Some of my favourite shades in the palette include the glamorous Wanderlust (a dark gold-flecked green), Big Sky (a shimmery greeny aqua), and Drift (a purple-gray) – these sexy, sultry shades look great when smudged and a little ‘disheveled’. But my list of favourites doesn’t stop there – I also adore Jet (a shimmering black with a purple sheen, Stranded (an on-trend neutral rose gold), Riff (darker nude for everyday wear), and Ignite ( a creamy, burnt coral). I could gush all day about all the beautiful shades in this palette but the button line is the shadows are soft, buttery, blendable, and most importantly, insanely pigmented.

Urban Decay Born To RunAs for the rest of the Urban Decay Born To Run collection, I haven’t tried any of the other products yet but the range also includes three Born to Run 24/7 Glide-On eye pencils in rich jewel tones to amplify the looks you create with the eyeshadow palette. From a reddish brown and a dark copper to a blue metallic. These versatile shades will pair perfectly with any bold eye look you can dream up. Plus, the creamy and waterproof formula stays soft and creamy for blending (about 30 seconds), then dries down to a long-lasting finish that will not budge. Also included in the range are three new Born to Run Vice Lipstick shades (a bright rose sparkle, a rich mauve-nude and a bright purple)  designed to complement the shades in the eyeshadow palette and take your look from neutral to showstopper with just one swipe. With a soft and supple texture, rich and even coverage, and long-lasting pigment, the Vice lipsticks are definitely worth the splurge. Lastly, there’s the All Nighter Setting Spray. Lock in your look before your all-day adventure using the cult-favourite All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. This spray promises to keep makeup looking just-applied for up to 16 hours), because Wanderlust leaves no time for touch-ups.

You can find the Born To Run Palette (R800), Vice Lipsticks (R250 each) and 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils (R230 each) at Urban Decay Sandton City, Menlyn Park, V&A Waterfront and Foschini Eastgate now. Or, if you just can’t wait shop online at the Urban Decay website or Foschini.
