It’s that time of the week again, hump day – the day that all your weekend planning begins. We all know that the weekend officially starts on Thursday so today is the very best day to start getting all your ducks in a row and start your weekend off the right way. To give you a little inspiration we’ve put together this handy list of 5 fabulous events happening in Cape Town and Joburg this weekend – there’s something for everyone so get your diaries out and keep reading!

1. The Pick n Pay Women’s Walk – Cape Town

Grab your closest friends and head down to Granger Bay Boulevard at the V&A Waterfront on Saturday 21 March for this fabulous 5-km fun walk in aid of creating awareness around breast-cancer issues. Men are also most welcome to come along and join in on the fun. Hot and cold refreshments will be on sale before and after the walk and every participant who finishes the walk will receive a medal and a goodie-bag full of products as well as be eligible for lucky draw prizes and delicious smoothies from Futurelife.

Time: 07:00 for 08:00 start.
Cost: Tickets are R50 for adults and R25 for children and are available from Webtickets.

2. The Greatest Love of All – The Whitney Houston Show – Cape Town

This one isn’t exactly this weekend but it’s worth booking for now! This hit show, starring Belinda Davids has recently wowed Joburg audiences with a sold-out 6 week run and will be opening in Cape Town at the Artscape Theatre for a limited season at the Artscape Opera House from 8 to 19 April 2015. This is a must-do for Whitney Houston fans and a great way to spoil yourself or even your mother! This brilliant 2-hour concert, featuring some of Houston’s biggest hits promises to be fun, heart-felt and uplifting and is accompanied by a live band and dancers.

Time: Wednesdays to Saturdays at 20:00, Sundays at 18:00.
Cost: Tickets range from R125 – R290 and are available through Computicket.

3. Chardonnay Pairing Evening at The Palazzo at Montecasino – Johannesburg

Another amazing event to book for is the The Palazzo at Montecasino Chardonnay Pairing Evening. The Palazzo has teamed up with DeWetshof Estate from Robertson in the Cape Winelands to host an exclusive food and winning evening. Taking place on the 25 March the event promises guests a five-course dinner prepared by award-winning Palazzo executive chef, Gerard Vingerling, and an array of wines to go along with it. With only 40 seats available, this is one not to be missed.

4. Paolo Nutini Live in Concert – Johannesburg

Get ready for this year’s Sowing the Seeds 2015 featuring legendary Scottish singer-song writer, Paolo Nutini alonside Desmond and the Tutus, Shortstraw, and many more local acts. Taking place on Saturday 21 March at Emmarentia Dam this live show promises to be a fun-filled day out for the whole family.

Time: Gates open at 10:00.

5. Wine-Style Wine Down – Johannesburg

Set against the backdrop of the gorgeous Tintswalo Hotel @ Waterfall Estates, Wine-Style Wine Down brings you an opportunity to taste the ‘Best of the Best’ wines while rubbing shoulders with the winemakers. Taking place on Friday 20th and Saturady 21st March this event promises to be loads of fun. A ticket gets you entrance and a tasting glass and allows you to roam around and taste for free.
