Visitors to the V&A Waterfront’s Time Out Market Cape Town will be in for a treat this winter. Hungry customers are invited to visit the market and explore the flavours of exciting seasonal dishes offered by its impressive collection of the city’s best chefs and restaurateurs.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone during the first winter that the market is open,” says Russ Meyer, General Manager of Time Out Market Cape Town. “Our chefs and vendors have been hard at work creating locally-loved dishes that bring the warmth of the city into an inviting space during the months that particularly call for comforting food and a lively atmosphere.”

So what’s on the menu? Swing past The Melting Pot for Spicy prawn laksa broth; indulge in a steaming hot Vegetarian Butternut Potjie at Mlilo, or be enticed by Kapoochka’s aromatic Tandoori Lamb Chops — the options are rife.

Newly introduced winter dishes include:

  • Carne: Italian beef meatballs and Napoli sauce.
  • Unframed: Banana caramel waffle.
  • The Siba Deli: Dombolo and prawns.
  • Sushiya: Temaki tacos (tempura Mozambique prawn and yellowfin tuna options) and truffled ramen.
  • Kapoochka: Tandoori chicken tikka.
  • Barakat: Dhal and hake and bolla (Cape Malay style lamington or doughnut hole).
  • Mlilo: Lamb potjie with optional steamed bun and jollof rice sides.

Other winter dishes include a deliciously saucy South African Burger and Loaded Tjips courtesy of De Vrije Burger, Carne’s tender T-bone and Butternut and Ricotta Ravioli, falling-off-the-bone Lamb Shank at The Siba Deli, Barakat’s comforting Cape Chicken Biriyani, and a moreish Salted Chocolate Ice Cream Cookie Bomb from Unframed. More than just great food

The 27,000 sq. ft foodie destination has 12 kitchens, three bars (plus a dedicated wine bar), and a stage for cultural experiences. Bringing customers more than just food. In addition to the new winter menu, the season’s lineup at Time Out Market Cape Town includes a series of fun events, quiz nights, and live entertainment that will keep the cold outside and that fuzzy warm feeling alight. There’s no better place to be when it’s raining and you’re looking for something unique to do.

Another addition to the market’s activities is its Winter Wine Series, a four-month series featuring wines from up to 150 producers across the season. Ticket holders can enjoy an educational wine journey with tastings, interactive challenges, and opportunities to network with wine producers, all at the Time Out Studio, a quintessential cocktail bar on the mezzanine level which doubles as the market’s cultural event space. The market will be open during normal trading hours throughout winter to present a curated seasonal round-up of food and entertainment. Its revolving cultural programme offers events for those with diverse interests, from Jazz and Comedy Nights to Swing Sundays, and more.

  • Sunday to Wednesday: all vendors open 11:00-22:00; coffee and breakfast from 8:00.
  • Thursday to Saturday: all vendors open 11:00-23:00; coffee & breakfast from 8:00.
