These 2 South African Hotels Made the World 100 List

It’s no secret, South Africa is a rather beautiful place, and we locals are lucky to have a large variety of world-class restaurants and holiday destinations right here on our doorstep. We know just how beautiful our country is but sometimes it’s nice to get some affirmation from an independent outsider — because who doesn’t love a compliment? And now, ultra fancy-pants magazine, Elite Traveler is giving us even more compliments by naming, not one, but two South Africa hotels in the Elite Traveler top 100 hotels in the world for 2019!
Aimed at “ultra-high-net-worth” individuals, The Elite Traveler magazine enjoys worldwide distribution aboard private jets and first-class lounges across over 100 countries, so the list is bound to be seen by some pretty influential people this year. Elite Traveler’s top 100 hotels in the world list curated by the magazine’s team of experts and features hotels from more than 34 countries — including two from South Africa!
Amongst other reasons, the hotels on the list were chosen due to their unbeatable locations, exceptional luxury, as well as impeccable service and amenities. South Africa’s La Residence in Franschhoek and Singita Ebony Lodge in Sabi Sand were considered truly exceptional by the Elite Traveler team, and we couldn’t agree more. Need proof? Just look at the incredible images below:
La Residence

According to Elite Traveler, Franschhoek’s La Residence stood out because of its breathtakingly beautiful location. Set at the foot of the Franschhoek Mountains and surrounded by 30-acres of vines and fruit trees, La Residence offers a truly magical experience.
“It is flamboyantly decadent and one of a kind,” the magazine said. “An eclectic mix of inspirations, from a Maharaja’s palace to the Palace of Versailles, means that no two guestrooms are the same, and there’s fine art and antiques wherever you look.”
