The Luisa Spagnoli Autumn/Winter 2014 Collection is Here and It’s Fabulous!

Luisa Spagnoli

Last week the WomenStuff team got the chance to check out the Luisa Spagnoli autumn/winter 2015 collection and we were blown away! The luxury Italian brand has two stores in South Africa – one at Hyde Park Corner in Johannesburg and one at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. Both stores offer a wide range of luxury fashion items for the discerning fashionista looking to invest in show-stopping pieces that just won’t quit. Keep reading to find out more about their new collection!

The thing we loved most about Luisa Spagnoli is that everything in store is made from natural fibers such as cotton, silk, leather, wool and rabbit angora. Luisa Spagnoli was one of the first designers to use rabbit angora yarn for knitwear and today the fashion label is a leader in using this unique yarn to create ultra soft and luxurious garments. The brand is also known for including lavish details on its elegant garments making them fit for a fashion icon. We paid a visit to their Cape Town store and couldn’t help but feel like it was the type of place Jackie O would have shopped or where Kate Middleton might pick up a few must-haves while in Italy. The pieces in the Luisa Spagnoli collection are investment pieces and are meant to last far beyond the season you buy them in. If you’re after a classic coat or a fabulous frock that will wow for seasons to come then Luisa Spagnoli is where you’ll find it.

Looking at the Luisa Spagnoli autumn/winter collection it is clear that the statement coat is a must-have for the cold season. The new collection offers a range of coats, cloaks and jackets with a classic male shape in goose-down, rabbit furs, cotton and leather. Zipper detail is also back and Luisa Spagnoli offers zip details in jackets and dresses this season. Knitwear is also a big focus for the season with the collection offering a range of tricot capes, oversized sweaters and cardigans stylishly paired with muffs and soft wool caps. We fell in love with the brown angora and wool coat and the Angora cloak in Emerald green – both coats manage to make any outfit look effortlessly chic and are the types of garments you never want to take off.

We also loved the range of  sleeveless dresses which perfectly highlight the female silhouette – particularly the little dusty pink number with bow detail around the waist. The dresses in the collection are combined with striking large silver or black silk bows, either around the waist or on the shoulders to create a show-stopping number when worn on its own or with a winter coat. As for colours this season’s collection features natural shades, silver-grey, and elegant midnight blue; while ruby-red, bright green, electric blue and saffron yellow add a dash of excitement to the most casual looks.

The line of accessories in fabulous eye-catching colours form the finishing touch of this chic collection with oversized bags for the woman who wants a fabulous statement piece on her arm, handbags, shoulder bags and evening bags. We also couldn’t get enough of the silks scarves in store – the elegant little accessories are the perfect way to add a little bit of luxury to your outfit in summer and winter.
