This Brush is a Lifesaver if You Struggle to Blow-Dry Your Own Hair [Review]
I was born with a thick mop of hair and my whole life I have suffered the woes that all girls with thick hair experience. If my hair brush isn’t getting stuck and tangled in my thick mane of curly hair then the handle is snapping right off. Some of my fondest (read worst) memories as a child was my weekly visit to the hairdresser. My hair was so unmanageable that my mom, who was tired of dealing with my screaming and crying when she tried to brush out my hair after washing it, decided to make it the hairdresser’s problem instead. It would take the poor shampoo lady at least 20 minutes to brush out my hair and I’m quite sure I heard her sigh every time my mom dragged me through the salon door. But, before you shed a tear for me, you can take comfort in the fact that things got easier for me as I got older. Ask anyone with curly hair and they will tell you that no paddle brush (scratch that, no brush period) is safe when it comes to curly hair. I’ve tried, rather unsuccessfully, to blow-dry my hair on many occasions and this really is the only brush I have ever used that didn’t have me giving up out of frustration. The sleek and modern-looking Blow Styling Brush is designed to take your hair from wet to dry and give you an unbelievable quick and smooth blow-style in no time at all. The brush handle itself is made from a sturdy heat-resistant material that allows you to get a good grip on the brush as you blow-dry. The handle also doesn’t get hot as your work so you won’t be dropping it to avoid getting burnt. This same heat-resistant material is used for the hard fixed based teeth which have been designed to move around your hair, not the other way round. The teeth have a unique memory flex technology which allow for free-flow tension so there’s no pulling and tugging. I made sure I brushed my hair out and detangled my locks with my original Tangle Teezer brush before blow-drying and had no problems with pulling or getting caught in the brush. And, as if that wasn’t cool enough, the brush also removes excess moisture from the hair shaft as you go, giving you a quicker blow-dry every time.
The placement of the teeth on the brush is also super important when it comes to understand how this brush works. When you look a little closer you will realise that it is not sorcery but rather all thanks to the fact that the teeth are laid out in ‘lanes’ with quite sizeable teeth-free canals between each lane. These lanes allow the air of the hair dryer to flow freely within the paddle of the brush and also helps to prevent snagging or additional damage to the hair.
The brush comes it two sizes, a half paddle for shorter and thinner hair and full paddle for medium to long hair lengths. I tested the full paddle and loved how much of my hair the brush could grip at one time. My hair falls just below my shoulders on my upper back and using the Tangle Teezer Blow Styling Brush allowed me blow-dry my hair in 20 minutes (I know, I couldn’t believe it either!).
