Table Mountain Cableway Re-opens After Exciting Upgrades

After their annual two-week scheduled maintenance shutdown, the Table Mountain Cableway is up and running again in time for the summer season. In addition to the maintenance carried out, there are also some exciting upgrades to look forward to including a re-branding of the cable cars, a new entrance and exit switch at the top cable car station, as well as some refurbishments to the Café and Visitor Centre.
“Delivering a world-class offering is something we constantly strive for, so during this year’s shutdown we took the opportunity to make some important changes that will further enhance the visitor experience,” says Cableway’s Managing Director, Wahida Parker. “The changes we make are based on feedback from visitors, the invaluable suggestions or ideas put forward by our staff, and the constant measurement of ourselves against international best practices”.
Just a head’s up: The lower cable car station lifts to the departure area are still in the process of being upgraded and work should continue until 23 October, so only one lift will be operational during this time – a good excuse to take the stairs up to the cable car deck!
Planning your next trip up our very own 7th Wonder of the World? Then remember these important facts:
- You can go up the cable car for free on your birthday! Just bring along your valid South African ID to get in. If your birthday fell during the closure period, you can claim your free birthday ticket here before 13 August.
- Kidz Season runs until 30 September 2017 where two kids under 18 can ride for free on a return trip with an adult. This special is valid on weekends, public holidays, and during school holidays.
