Experience the Ultimate in Relaxtion at the New Steenberg Spa! [Review]

Steenberg Spa

Just because we’re super close to the beach doesn’t mean life in Cape Town isn’t stressful. Dealing with everything from daily traffic and getting the kids ready for school each morning to work and social commitments can be tough and every now and then you can’t fight the urge to escape the city. But there’s no need to flee the city for smaller seaside towns. No, luckily, the new Steenberg Spa offers guests a retreat just 30 minutes from the Cape Town city centre where you can unwind and relax and head home feeling like a new person. I got the chance to visit the newly refurbished and rebranded spa for an afternoon and I must say; it’s my new favourite place! Spending time at this beautifully located spa I felt like I was far, far away in the countryside and all my troubles seemed to melt away. Forget a weekend away at a yoga retreat, an afternoon at Steenberg Spa is all you need to reset and take a much-needed beat!

Located on the exquisite Steenberg Estate and surrounded by natural beauty – mountain views, vineyards and the most beautifully manicured gardens – Steenberg Spa is a beautiful escape that everyone needs to experience. I love that the estate now offers guests the full package with a space that can see them spending a full day ‘getting away from it all” on the estate. Guests can spend a few hours being pampered, lounging by the pool and being wined and dined at the Steenberg restaurants and return home in the early evening feeling like they’ve been on a mini holiday in the countryside. But, if you don’t have a full day then the spa alone is a delightful place to while away an hour or two. A real sense of relaxation and serenity permeates the space – from the reception to the changing room, relaxation room, treatment rooms and beyond, you can’t help but feel at peace when you’re at Steenberg Spa.

My favourite place at the spa is definitely the relaxation room where you can go to start and end your journey at the spa. I arrived at Steenberg Spa and after a quick change in the cloak rooms I was escorted to the relaxation room to put my feet up and enjoy a warm cup of the most delicious Chai. The beds in this room are beyond cosy and the room is so beautifully decorated and inviting that chances are you will never want to leave. I honestly would pay them for the pleasure of just being able to sit there for a few hours sipping tea and reading magazines. It was pure bliss. After a wee while in the relaxation room it was time for my treatment and I was led to a stunning double treatment room with French doors overlooking the beautifully manicured spa garden.

I got the chance to experience the Soulful Decadence Treatment which consisted of a radiance facial and body massage (120 minutes – R1295). This holistic, indulgent treatment is designed to help clients restore and revitalise body mind and spirit and leaves you feeling transformed. The facial was absolutely incredible and I was thrilled with how plump and radiant my skin looked afterwards. The therapist used a range of Babor products on my skin including a mask. The mask included in this facial is unbelievable at drawing out toxins and purities in your skin and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to look radiant for an upcoming event. The massage was also heavenly and I left feeling like all the tension and stress in my back and shoulders had melted away.

Of course, there is a range of other delightful treatments on offer as well. The spa also offers treatments for pregnant women, using the beautiful, all-natural and internationally acclaimed Mio range. And, if you can’t find something that catches your fancy on the menu they are also happy to tailor-make packages for individual clients, according to their specific needs.
