South American Grill House Opens on Bree Street

Meat lovers rejoice; a brand new South American grill house, specialising in the finest selection of meats has just opened its doors in Cape Town! With its ultra-cool, laid back decor and food to make your mouth water just at the thought, the new Charango Barbacoa in the city centre, promises a truly South American summer dining experience for South Africans.
Taking the concept of casual dining to the next level, Charango Barbacoa boasts an extensive array of meat cuts cooked to perfection while you wait. For an authentic South American flair, the open flow venue creates a lively spot to enjoy your meal with a light and airy vibe, wooden floors and a whitewashed brick finish. A collection of South American features completes the look with framed photographs, old lamps, vintage books and travel posters, wall maps and earthenware ceramics.
On the food scale, all meat cuts are served with a selection of mostly South American-inspired butters, rubs and sauces like salsa verde, chimichurri, chermoula, espresso butter, brandy cream and bone marrow butter. To accompany your grill, try sides like chips with smoked salt and garlic aïoli, chargrilled corn with chipotle or burnt butter mashed potatoes. Lighter options like sweet potato fries, baby vegetables and zucchini fries also make an appearance.
Not a fan of steak? The menu also includes dishes like tacos (with pulled pork, beef or tuna), fish dishes (think as ceviche, tuna tataki and grilled prawns), and a South African biltong touch. End your dining experience on a sweeter note with desserts like deep-fried ice cream, Crema Catalana and dulce de leche ice cream with a Pisco-infused sauce.
Beat the summer heat with a selection of classic and unique cocktails like the original Negroni, Forever Summer and Cranberry Fizz. The drinks menu also features quality local wines and beers, MCCs, and spirits from tequila to rum and craft gin.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner from Monday to Saturday at 114 Bree Street, Cape Town.
