South African Series, Shadow Coming to Netflix in March

We all love Netflix, but let’s face it; it’s high time some killer local content made it to the streaming service. Netflix is known for offering viewers incredible original content but up until now the only original Netflix content we’ve enjoyed has been overseas created series and movies. That’s all about to change as coming March, Netflix subscribers in the republic will be able to enjoy brand new South African series, Shadow with just the click of a button.
Even better news? This show is totally binge-worthy! Shadow will launch on the worldwide streaming service on 8 March and stars local actor, Pallance Dladla (swoon!) as Shadow and Amanda Du Pont as Ashley, his love interest.
Set after the discovery of a brutal and unjust murder of a young girl, the plot follows Jozi detective and former task force specialist, Shadrach ‘Shadow’ Khumalo, who quits his job to help people who have been failed by the criminal justice system. He makes his way through the city’s vicious underworld using an incredibly rare condition to his advantage: he can’t feel physical pain.

Shadow is just the beginning of local content for Netflix as earlier this year the streaming service also announced the commission of its first African original drama, Queen Sono. Starring Pearl Thusi as a highly trained spy while undertaking her most dangerous mission yet, Queen Sona is sure to be a hit with local audiences. Watch this space: South African TV is clearly a force to be reckoned with!
