Soup is the best darn thing about winter! There’s nothing better than warming up with a delicious bowl of freshly made soup and a side of bread on a cold winter’s day. There are loads of great places to grab a bowl of soup in Cape Town so we thought we would share our favourite soup spots with you. Here are 5 fabulous spots to enjoy a bowl of soup in Cape Town.

1. The Hussar Grill – various branches in Cape Town

If you haven’t yet tried The Hussar Grill’s famous Italian Tomato Soup (R38) then you are missing out. They’ve been using the same incredible recipe for 30 years and it’s one of their most popular winter starters.

2. ZOOP! – Bay Harbour Market, Hout Bay

Owner Linda McKeever serves the best soup in town from her little market stall at the Bay Harbour Market in Hout Bay! All their soups are made using natural ingredients and freshly-made stock, with no flour, gluten or preservatives. Choose from delights like Curried Red Lentil soup, Winter Vegetable soup, Sweet Potato and Ginger soup, Mexican Three Bean soup, Vichyssoise and much more. If you’re heading to the market pick up a bowl and a roll for as little as R30, depending on the soup you choose. 3. Mondiall – V&A Waterfront

The popular waterfront brasserie offers visitors two yummy soup options – a classic French Onion Soup (deep roasted onions in a rich beef broth, gruyerecroute & chives – R72) and a daily Soup de Jour (R62). You can’t go wrong with this incredible spot – plus there’s loads ofother great fare on offer on their extensive winter menu. And, if you want your soup on the go then Mondiall is also serving a Winter Warmer Soup from their Burger Bar! The soup changes every week but it is usually a vegetarian soup. You can also enjoy classics such as Chicken Noodle or Split Pea & Ham, and portions are always served with bread. The Burger Bar opens at 11:00 and closes at 22:00.
