Secret Eats

Everything is more fun with a dash of mystery, especially dining out. If you’re looking to add the element of surprise to your next restaurant experience it’s time to check out SecretEATS. After an almost 2-year hiatus overseas, South Africa’s much loved mystery dining experience is back on South African soil and ready to surprise with all new Secret Soirees! For their first trick, the SecretEATS team will be popping up in Joburg to bring highveld foodies an exclusive spring dining experience that is sure to delight.

For these unique once-off dinner soirees, SecretEATS invites talented chefs to step out of their comfort zones and into a mystery kitchen to create a fabulous feast for invited guests. Diners who are lucky enough to cop an invite, can expect an exclusive, intimate multiple-course dinner party with stunning wine pairings from some of South Africa’s top wine farms.

But this isn’t about being too fancy, the idea behind SecretEATS is simply to bring together thirty or so outgoing, spontaneous foodies looking for a totally unique dining experience. ‘By invitation only’ guests enjoy a culinary feast at an undisclosed location, prepared by a top notch chef. In the past, SecretEATS has collaborated with some of South Africa’s most well-known chefs including the likes of Bertus Basson and Kobus van Der Merwe, so those attending these new dinners can expect big things.

To further add to the element of surprise, the evenings are hosted in locations where guests cannot simply make a booking and pitch up. Think venues like wineland homes, art galleries, private gardens and forests — but you’ll only discover the mystery chef and menu upon confirmation of your password at the hidden location on the day.
