A little while ago we told you all about Rolling Cherry, Joburg’s first roller rink in Maboneng (read the article here!) and now we’re bringing you the news of a brand new roller rink in the north of Johannesburg! If Maboneng is a little out of the way then this spot, which opened in July is the perfect place to get your roller skating fix. Here’s the low-down on Roll Egoli, a new roller skate rink and party venue in Bryanston.

Located at 296 Main Rd, Bryanston, Roll Egoli boasts a wide range of services for roller skating newbies and experts. The roller rink is massive and offers plenty of space for both young and old to roll around. The venue’s all-weather 1000 square meters roller skating rink has a super smooth concrete floor and semi-open sides, allowing the skaters to be cooled by the fresh breeze blowing through. And, when you’re feet just can’t roll anymore you can take a seat at one of the benches and seating areas scattered around the garden outside.

Visitors to the rink can either rent skates from the rental kiosk at R25 per pair or, if you really want to commit, then you can buy your own pair from their store. They’ve got an impressive collection of skates for adults and kids on offer and the skates start from about R639 a pair. Skate hire is available with sizes to fit ages 4+ up to adult size 13. The skates are comfortable leather high boot Chicago skates – just remember your socks!

And, when the hunger bug bites you can pop to the self-service cafeteria and grab a little something to nibble and sip on in between skating. The restaurant offers everything from wood-fired pizza and home-made gelati to muffins, hot beverages, and cold refreshments. There’s also a beautiful garden area and kid’s play area with scooter track and trampoline for those moments when the kids want to slip off their skates for a snack and a runaround.
