Revlon Colorstay Longwear Makeup Review: Foundation with Skincare Benefits

After years of working as an Editor and writer for…
Foundation is a staple in any makeup collection. A great foundation is the starting point for any showstopping makeup look and it is the one product that can cover any uneven skintone, blemishes, or breakouts. It’s a must if you’re looking to perfect the skin and ensure your complexion looks seamless and glowing. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t want a foundation that goes a step further than expected?
One brand that’s shaking things up in the world of foundation is Revlon. The brand’s much-loved foundation range is getting an upgrade with two new formulations that not only help to create a flawless base for your makeup looks, but also treat the skin while they’re at it.
Great news for anyone who wears foundation daily, the iconic Revlon ColorStay Longwear Makeup now helps to improve the skin’s quality thanks to the addition of powerful hero ingredients usually reserved for the skincare shelves. It’s a hard-working foundation that offers 24-hour wear and buildable coverage for all skin types.
The range includes the Longwear Normal/Dry skin foundation infused with Hyaluronic Acid and the Longwear Combination/Oily skin foundation infused with Vitamin E. Normal/Dry with Hyaluronic Acid promises to hydrate the skin and boost moisture levels throughout the day, giving the complexion a healthy-looking glow.
Combination/Oily with antioxidant Vitamin E helps to nourish and protect the skin from pollutants. To take it a step further, Revlon says its earth-sourced multi-mineral powders work to prevent any oil breakthrough, keeping shine to a minimum. It’s a great formula for anyone who wants a poreless and matte finish.
No matter which version you choose, the waterproof, no-transfer formula is breathable as well as sweat and heat-resistant, helping it stay put even in hot and humid conditions. Plus, if you have sensitive skin, then you’ll be thrilled to learn the foundation is both oil and fragrance-free.
But, wait there’s more! For good measure Revlon has also thrown in some sun protection with the formula boasting a broad-spectrum SPF to protect the skin from damaging UVA and UVB rays. The Normal/Dry skin foundation offers SPF20 coverage while the Combination/Oily skin foundation offers SPF15 protection.
Revlon ColorStay Longwear Normal/Dry with Hyaluronic Acid
I got my hands on the Normal/Dry formula to see if the longwear and hydration claims rang true. Let’s face it; a good long-wearing foundation should easily take you from day to evening, and this new version from Revlon does a great job of staying put. The foundation applies beautifully, giving me that coveted flawless coverage, with a natural finish every time.
Struggling with dry skin is no joke. If I know I’ll be out all day without much time for touch ups, I’ll often tend to opt for a tinted moisteriser or BB cream over foundation. Those with dry skin will know all too well that dreaded afternoon foundation flake as your skin dries out throughout the day. But wearing this formula I’ve noticed that my skin feels incredibly soft and hydrated throughout the day and there are no issues with flaking as the day drags on.
It’s a lightweight foundation that feels soft and barely-there going on, but still offers incredible full coverage that you can build as you need. If you’re not completely satisfied with your current foundation then I urge you to give this one from Revlon a try. With a wide range of shades, it’s easy to find your colour match and say hello to flawless looking skin.
Revlon ColorStay Longwear Makeup is available in 26 shades at a recommended selling price of R339.95.
