Some Like it Hot: Try This Easy Recipe for Homemade Ranch Dressing (The Spicy Edition)

For anyone who has visited the United States, or had a loved one come back from an extended visit to the US, you’ve no doubt heard about the fuss around ranch dressing. Authentic American-style ranch isn’t available in South Africa but that shouldn’t stop you from getting your fix!
Easy homemade ranch dressing is the absolute best, and we have a lekker locally-developed recipe to share with you courtesy of Oryx Desert Salt. This super flavourful ranch dressing made from scratch is simple to make at home and offers all the dipping opportunities. Plus, it’s got a little kick to it, thanks to Oryx Chili Salt! Once you pop you can’t stop so whip this up and start dipping everything!
Homemade Spicy Ranch Dressing
Ingredients
1 cup mayo (250ml)
1 cup sour cream or Greek yoghurt (250ml)
2 limes (3-4 Tbsp juice + zest)
Small bunch fresh dill, finely chopped 5g
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
¼ – 1 tsp Oryx chilli salt, freshly ground
Directions
Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl, tasting and adjusting as you go. There’s no better excuse to lick the spoon!
Loosen up the mixture with a drizzle of water or your preferred milk if you would like it runnier.
Serve and enjoy as a chip dip, as a dressing over salads, veggies, chicken wings… You name it!
