Prep Your Skin for Summer with the 100% Natural Team Dr. Joseph Facial [Review]
The cold winter months can really take its toll on your skin and after a rather dry winter in Cape Town, my skin was in dire need of a pick-me-up. As luck would have it, an invitation from Steenberg Spa popped up in my inbox just as I was making plans to treat my skin to a much-needed facial. In addition to an afternoon of relaxation, the invite included a Team Dr. Joseph facial and I was beyond excited to be experiencing the Steenberg Spa and the Team Dr. Joseph range for the very first time.
I paid a visit to the spa on one of the coldest days I’ve experienced in Cape Town to date. Nestled between the vineyards of Steenberg Estate in Constantia, the Steenberg Spa is indeed a haven in the suburbs. Once I set foot in the beautiful, intimate spa I was transported into a world completely detached from the icy mountain weather – one filled with comfort, warmth and a sense of calm. I was in my element.
Not familiar with the team Dr. Joseph range, I listened with interest as I was given a breakdown of the products before my treatment. The high-tech line of natural cosmetics from Italy is made with pure ingredients using bio-engineering and technology to restore the skin’s natural balance. The range uses plant extracts and ingredients and is 100 percent natural and vegan-friendly. Prior to this treatment, I had never used natural, organic products on my face, mostly because I believed that problematic skin required deeper, more chemical attention, but my theory was soon disproved once my therapist started my treatment.
During my skin consultation, my therapist suggested a purifying facial treatment for my combination but breakout-prone skin type. This treatment did wonders for the winter dryness that had plagued my face over the past few months. One of the things I loved most about the Team Dr. Joseph products is the distinctly natural scent – the beautifully fresh smell of the products transports you to a serene secret garden filled with flowers and greenery. As for the treatment, the most enjoyable aspect of the facial treatment for me was the fact that my therapist took such great care in focusing all of her attention on my skin. If you’d like to feel like a king or queen after a stressful day then this facial is for you!
I am often tentative with believing that products continue to positively affect the skin after a facial, especially after showering post-facial treatments, however, I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth, moisturized and soft my face felt the morning after this treatment. I continued to use the products over the next few weeks and could definitely feel the difference in the texture of my face, as well as in the lack of breakouts that I experienced. The Team Dr. Joseph products are also priced at reasonable costs, making them affordable and accessible, and totally worth it!
