Oppo Reno8 Arrives in SA: Price, Details, & What You Need to Know

Oppo has introduced its Oppo Reno8 to the South African market, bringing the brand’s latest flagship smartphone, and its respective variants, at an affordable price-point in the high-end category.
Reno8 and Reno8 Pro
Firstly, the device comes in two flavours: the Reno 8 5G and Reno 8 Pro 5G. The Reno 8 is the base model while the Pro includes a few extra features for those looking for a little more bang for their buck.
Specs
The Reno8 Pro 5G features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display (1,080 x 2,412 pixels) with a 120Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max (5 nm) chipset, in-display fingerprint sensor, 256GBs of RAM, and comes in two RAM options: 8GBs and 12GBs. It also features a non-removable Li-Po 4500 mAh battery.
The Reno8 5G features a 6.4-inch AMOLED display (1,080 x 2,000 pixels) with a 90Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek Dimensity 1300 (6 nm) chipset, 8GBs of RAM, in-display fingerprint sensor, and has two storage variants: 128GBs or 256GBs. The base model includes the same non-removable Li-Po 4500 mAh battery as the Pro version.
Both devices also feature the 80W Supervooc charging capability, which is said to get the battery to 50% within 11 minutes.
Cameras
In terms of optics, the Reno8 and Reno8 Pro have the same camera set-up, featuring three cameras on the back, including a 50-megapixel primary Sony IMX766 sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a 2-megapixel third sensor. Both feature a 32-megapixel front-facing camera for video chats and selfies, with the Pro having autofocus built-in.
Pricing & Availability
The Oppo Reno8 Pro is priced at R19,999 and will be available from 28 September 2022 in Glazed Green and black. The Reno8 will be available soon and is priced at R16,999, and available in gold or black.
