You know what they say; “New Year, new restaurants!” And, luckily for hungry Joburgers there are a whole bunch of new eateries that have opened their doors in Joburg since the beginning of 2016. So, before we head through to review them all we thought we would give you a comprehensive list of some of the hottest new restaurants that have opened in Jozi in 2016. Of course, the year is just beginning so we are sure there will be loads more to come over the next couple of months.

Beast Grill House – Weltevreden Park, Johannesburg

This brand new smokehouse is lighting up quite the fire in Joburg and after hearing nothing but good things about their food we cannot wait to try it! With its industrial-style decor and laid-back vibe, Beast offers an exciting experience for meat lovers. The menu offers a wide selection of burgers (which look massive!), steaks and other grills to satisfy the hungriest of appetites. Expect only the best grain fed A-grade meat. As for the drinks you can expect to find some delicious craft beers and ciders on the menu as well as the usual soft drinks, hot beverages and more.

This new smokehouse has been getting rave reviews from local meat lovers who have nothing but good things to say about their burgers, BBQ platters, sandwiches … and even their salads! We’ve heard that the milkshakes are to die for and we can’t wait to try their wide selection of sides including the American-style cornbread, slaw and Mac & Cheese. If that’s not enough to get you through the door then maybe their delicious sounding brunch will – opt for a pancake stack or French toast and start your morning off the right way at TJ Billies this weekend.

This new spot in Parkmore is a place to gather over shared ideas, wood-fired meals, fine wine and craft beer. The menu at this rather fascinating new spot is small but boasts a good selection of delicious choices such as burgers, steaks, and tapas-style meals to share. We love the sound of the deep fried pap balls with chakalaka, spicy chicken wings and of course, the smoked crème brulée – because who doesn’t love a sweet treat! As for the drinks, Parliament offers a good selection of local wines by the glass as well as local craft beers and cocktails.
