1. Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue Royale Eau de Parfum

Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue Royale Eau de Parfum

This sultry oriental mosaic fragrance exudes elegance and is the perfect fragrance for a night out with your special someone. A generous spritz will reveal top notes of Raspberry Liqueur, Italian Bergamot and Orange Flower while a longer wear will uncover luxurious middle notes of Patchouli, Cedarwood Atlas Orpur and Cypriol which melt into hypnotic endnotes of Sultry Amber Oud, Royal Suede Accord and Golden Musks. It’s a stunning winter fragrance and there’s no doubt I will even be wearing it on cold winter’s nights spent snuggling on the couch.

Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue Royale (75ml) is available online from Foschini at R 795.

2. Physicians Formula Argan Wear Ultra-Nourishing Argan Oil Blush

Physicians Formula Argan Wear blush

Argan Oil is STILL all the rage and thanks to much success in the hair and skincare department the nourishing oil has now made its way into the realm of cosmetics. This beautiful blush from Physicians Formula is part of the brand’s Argan Wear cosmetics range which promises to nourish your skin while you wear it. The ultra-luxe formula is infused with Argan Oil to offer conditioning benefits as well as a pretty glow. I must admit, while the Argan oil does add a beautiful scent to the product I didn’t really find it to be any more nourishing on my skin than other blush products I have tried in the past. But, let’s be honest, it’s just a blush and its main job is to give you a beautiful glow and this product does that oh-so-well. It comes in 2 shades (Rose and Natural), I tried the Rose shade which offers a pretty palette of pink and gold to give you that rosy cheek look. The brush has a rich pigment so a light brush stroke on the cheeks will go a long way. The compact also has a mirror and mini blush brush which are useful when travelling.

Physicians Formula Argan Wear Ultra-Nourishing Argan Oil Blush is available from Dis-Chem Pharmacies at R249.95

3. Trichotin Hair Regenesis

Trichotin Hair Regenesis

If you’re looking to give your hair a boost or simply combat hair loss then you need to give Trichotin a try. This daily hair supplement will help give you healthier, stronger hair while also aiding in the fight against hair loss. But this isn’t just another vitamin supplement, Trichotin Hair Regenesis contains a powerful combination of vital nutrients to stimulate blood flow and oxygen delivery to the skin and scalp resulting in regeneration of damaged hair follicles and skin cells. Ingredients like Saw Palmetto, Oat Straw, Pygeum and Nettle help to minimise hair loss while a blend of Pyrodoxine, Kelp, Inositol and select amino acids help to stimulate hair follicles and initiate the process of growth and rejuvenation. I used the product for a 3-month period and have seen excellent results – the condition of my scalp has improved, my hair feels stronger and looks healthier, and even my skin is looking more radiant!

Trichotin Hair Regenesis is available at online from the Fusion Laboratories website at R398 for a 1-month supply (30 tablets). Don’t forget to read my full review of the product here.

4. Bioderma Sensibio Gel Moussant Mild Cleansing Foaming Gel

Bioderma Sensibio Gel Moussant Mild Cleansing Foaming Gel

I’m a HUGE fan of Bioderma Micellar Water so when I got the chance to try another one of the brand’s cleansers I jumped at the chance. The Bioderma Gel Moussant cleanser was designed with sensitive skin in mind and is all about helping to increase the tolerance threshold of sensitive skin. Enriched with Coco-Glucoside; an active ingredient that mimics the skin structure, Sensibio Gel Moussant helps to cleanse, moisturise and protect the skin while also gently removing make-up from the face and eyes. The soothing, mild foaming cleansing gel is also soap-free, fragrance-free, paraben-free, colourant-free, hypoallergenic, and non-comedogenic making it great for people who struggle with irritation on the skin. I love this product because it’s lightweight and leaves my skin feeling clean but moisturised. I have sensitive skin and this stuff works wonders when it comes to removing make-up and dirt from the skin without leaving it feeling stripped or dry. I’ve been using it as a second cleansing step after my Bioderma Micellar Water but it’s also perfect to use all on its own.

Bioderma Sensibio Gel Moussant Mild Cleansing Foaming Gel (200ml) is available from Clicks stores at R208.95.

5. L.A. Girl Pro Coverage HD Illuminating Foundation

L.A. Girl LA Girl Pro Coverage HD Illuminating Foundation

If you’re all about covering up unsightly blemishes and long nights of binge watching series on Netflix then this medium to full coverage foundation from L.A Girl is going to be your best friend. While loads of foundations claim to be full coverage and then fall short when put to the test, I was super impressed with the coverage I got using this L.A Girl foundation. It covers up blemishes really well and has quite a runny texture with a dewy finish which I really like. Despite being a full coverage foundation, the L.A Girl Pro.Coverage foundation is actually quite lightweight and I found that a pump of the product goes a long way. It doesn’t look or feel heavy on my skin, which is a big plus for me, and it lasts all day when applied (I got a full 9 hours of wear!). This L.A Girl foundation is a great choice for people with dry or normal skin but those with oily skin might not like it because of the dewy finish. I love the glow the product gives my skin and has definitely climbed its way into my heart as my go-to foundation now. The product comes in a range of about 15 different shades (I tried Fair) but you can also buy an additional pure white lightener product which will allow you to mix your foundation to get the exact shade you need for your skin (brilliant!).

L.A. Girl LA Girl Pro Coverage HD Illuminating Foundation is available from Dis-Chem Pharmacies at R175.

6. La Prairie Skin Caviar Essence-in-Lotion

la prairie skin in lotion

If you’re in the market for an anti-aging product that doesn’t feel too mature but still has all the benefits and results you’re looking for (i.e. softening the fine lines that have crept up on your face, moisturising and improving skin elasticity) then La Prairie’s Skin Caviar Essence-in-Lotion is sure to make all your skincare dreams come true. I absolutely adored this product; the lightweight, yet powerful serum-like lotion helps to improve elasticity and tone by lifting and firming the skin on your face with each application. The secret? It contains 100% active caviar water (true story). The beauty of this product is that you don’t have to wait ages and ages to feel it working and see results. From the first time I applied it to my skin, I could feel a lift almost instantly, my pores were pretty much non-existent and it left my face feeling immediately softer. Plus, because it restores moisture to your skin, it helps any anti-ageing product you apply after it to soak in better. Simply apply a small amount with your fingertips after cleansing and before applying your serum and moisturiser and you’ll reap even more benefits from the products in your skincare routine.

La Prairie Skin Caviar Essence-in-Lotion is available from leading health and beauty spas nationwide.
