After years of working as an Editor and writer for…
Markets are a big deal in Cape Town and the Oranjezicht City Farm Market, is one of the most popular with locals and tourists alike. With a laid-back vibe and stunning oceans views, this vibey seaside market is one of the best places to grab a bite to eat or enjoy a drink with mates over the weekend. So, with that in mind, we decided to pay a visit to this trendy market in Land Rover’s most versatile SUV yet, the new Discovery, 3-litre TdV6 SE.
Located in Granger Bay at the V&A Waterfront, the market boasts a spectacular setting and a wide variety of stalls offering both delicious meals made to be enjoyed at the market, as well as fresh ingredients to take home. The market is open on Saturdays from 09:00 to 14:00 and Sundays from 09:00 to 15:00. Giving you ample time to pop in for breakfast or a quick lunch, before exploring the rest of the wares on offer.
This sustainable market supports local farmers in the Western Cape and is the ideal place to do your weekly fresh produce shop. The popular farm market boasts an array of high-quality produce and other staples like dairy, eggs, seafood (think ocean-fresh oysters and mussels), special cuts of meat, poultry, game meat, cured meats, special oils and vinegars, as well as freshly baked goods. Also available are plants and other homeware accessories to spruce up your home for summer.

More about the Discovery, 3-litre TdV6 SE:
Land Rover is calling the Discovery 3 litre TdV6 SE the most versatile SUV in its line-up. This stylish SUV not only looks truly at home in the city but also drives impeccably off-road. It’s a lifestyle car for anyone who fancies themselves a secret adventurer. Someone who loves the buzz of city life, but on the weekends likes to escape to somewhere a little more off-the-beaten-track.
One of the highlights of this car is the sheer amount of space available inside the cabin, and the versatility it offers. Inside, the Discovery features an easily configurable optional seven-seat layout and plenty of stowage. Intelligent Seat Fold allows you to configure the second and third-row seating using switches located in the load space or via the main Touchscreen. The cabin is further enhanced with clever use of space for those times when you need to fit in everything but the kitchen sink.
The Discovery also offers life’s little creature comforts and safety features, making it a pleasure to drive in the city or off-road. Featuring the latest vehicle and infotainment technologies, this SUV offers everything you need for a comfortable drive. From the choice of Meridian sound systems to innovations such as Touch Pro, and a suite of ingenious driving, parking and towing aids, there’s a world at your fingertips.
The Discovery certainly has plenty going for it, besides its obvious capabilities on the rough stuff, this car easily fits into everyday life in the city. While for me, a single woman with a dog and not much stuff to cart around, it did feel a little big at times, but for a family of four, this spacious SUV is a dream come true.
Priced at R1,121,790 the Discovery 3,0 TDV6 SE offers up an extremely capable family-friendly package. With good looks, plenty of technology, and a rugged underbelly — this car is a jack of all trades with true luxury flair.
