Man Crush Monday: We Get to Know Gentle Giant, Steven Kitshoff
To his teammates he’s known as “Red Bull”, but to all of South Africa, he’s known for known for his incredible scrumming skills, his on-field dedication and his ongoing stamina. We caught up with professional Rugby player, Steven Kitshoff off the field, to get the lowdown on all things personal. Currently applying his trade at the Bordeaux Bègles in Bordeaux, France, Steven committed himself to relocating to this beautiful side of the work with his fiancee, Aimee Steenkamp.

Laid-back, quiet, adrenaline junky, adventurous.
What’s your idea of the perfect date?
Probably a nice romantic dinner and a movie. There are so many incredible restaurants in Bordeaux, and not to mention the wine here, is amazing!
When you were little you wanted to be…
May sound cliche, but I really wanted to be a Springbok Rugby player.
Your biggest relationship deal breaker (or turn off) is…
Bad dental hygiene!
What do you like to do for fun or to relax?
I really enjoy playing golf. I try to get to the course at least once a week on my off days. But when I’m in South Africa, you’ll definitely find me on a wakeboard.
If you could instantly download three skills or super powers like an app what would they be?
Super speed, super strength, and to be able to see the future!
Right now, what are you completely obsessed with?
Dubai! We recently travelled to Dubai where I got engaged. It was so surreal. It’s a world on its own – the people, the sights, the food … everything.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
I am actually a really shy guy.
What are you most looking forward to this year?
Just being able to do what I love, play rugby and explore the world with my fiancee.
What can’t you live without?

Best thing you ever bought? My fiancee’s beautiful engagement ring from PURA. Grant really did an incredible job designing the perfect ring.
Favourite sportsman? This is a difficult choice as I have so many, but I’d have to say Mohammad Ali and Gary Player.
Must-have fashion accessory? A nice wristwatch, or a cap, you can’t go wrong with that.
Favourite drink? A cold beer, but since being in France I have learnt to savour and appreciate wine a lot more.
Favourite travel item? Headphones!
