The smaller area is treated with the new CoolMini applicator, a tool specifically designed for small volume areas of fat. The applicator’s size, shape, and curvature is designed to comfortably fit these small, problem areas, including the submental, or chin fat area.

Laserderm claims that patients may see results as early as three weeks, with the most dramatic results showing one to three months after treatment. Of course, we also love that there’s no need to undergo surgery! Unlike liposuction, there are no incisions and no surgical risks with a Coolsculpting procedure. According to Laserderm, the procedure is safe, effective, virtually painless, typically requires no downtime, and can be performed during a lunch hour.
“Treatments involve applying the applicator to the underchin fat. The system pulls the fat snugly into the applicator cup where cold plates reduce the temperature of the fat to its unique freezing point. Fat cell breakdown begins and over the next 12 weeks the fat is eliminated by the body’s natural sweep mechanism. The fat, once gone, stays gone. The cells aren’t shrunk, they’re destroyed by the process. The patient’s skin is protected by a special gel sheet and each treatment takes an hour” says Dr Natalie Cordeiro from Laserderm.
The launch price of the treatment is R7000 for the under chin area (normal price: R9000) and R6000 for either side of the chin (normal price: R15 000). A second treatment may be required depending on area. This will be assessed and done after 60 -90 days at less 30% of the list price.
