La Belle Bistro and Bakery Opens In Mouille Point! [Review]

After years of working as an Editor and writer for…
As if you needed any more excuses to visit Mouille Point, popular eatery la Belle goes and opens the doors to their third Cape Town location just in time for the summer season! The Kove Collection opened the first la Belle Bistro & Bakery at the Alphen Hotel in Constantia in 2011 and today the eatery is a popular spot for ladies who lunch and those looking for delicious bakes and excellent food. The great news is, the new la Belle Bistro & Bakery in Mouille Point definitely lives up to the famous la Belle legacy and is the perfect place to pop in for lunch or a cup of coffee on the weekends.
Situated between the V&A Waterfront and the historic Mouille Point Light House, the casual dining spot on the Atlantic Seaboard is beyond charming and diners can choose to sit outside under the shade of an umbrella or grab a seat indoors for a more sophisticated atmosphere. This spot is so sweet and would make a great choice for a day-time bridal shower, baby shower or birthday party. Book one of the long tables inside for your special celebration or book the entire restaurant for a private function – it’s up to you!
As for the food, the menu at la Belle offers freshly baked quiches, gourmet burgers, cupcakes, organic salads and raw juices and whether you’re heading through for breakfast, a light lunch or a glass of wine you’re sure to find something to suit your tastes here. I got the chance to sample a few bites of the menu and loved it! I tried the Seafood Broth for starters and Roast Chicken Pie for mains and loved both dishes.

The Seafood Broth (a light broth with prawns, Norweigan Salmon, and Kingklip – R95) is small but still manages to be packed with seafood. The broth is light but the flavours of the prawns, salmon and Kingklip combine beautifully to create a seafood lover’s dream. As for the Chicken Pie (mushroom, leeks with creamy mash and thyme – R95) it is to die for! The pie crust is served atop the pie mixture and the mash and is a great hearty meal for those looking for something with a home-made feel. The mushroom and leek filling is deliciously creamy and will leave you wanting to lick the bowl it’s served in.

I washed it all down with a delicious Cranberry & Cherry iced tea (R30) which was just the thing I needed on a hot summer’s day in Cape Town. The menu also offers a wide range of cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks which are sure to tempt you. For my next visit, I’ve got my eye on one of their gourmet milkshakes – the Berry & White Chocolate Milkshake sounds incredible as does the Vanilla Chai Milkshake (both R45).
Don’t forget to leave space for a yummy bake or two! Their cheesecake is super yummy and you’ll kick yourself if you don’t end your meal off with a coffee and a slice of cake.
Find la Belle Mouille Point at No2, Two Oceans Beach, Bay Road, Mouille Point Cape Town – the eatery is open from 08:00 to 17:00 daily. For more information visit the la Belle website or say Hi to la Belle Bistro & Bakery on Facebook.
