Chinese company Itel has launched its P40 smartphone in South Africa, bringing a sub-R2,000 Android phone with some decent specs to the local market.
Retailing for R1,999, the Itel P40 is described as “leaning more towards the mid-range than entry level”, and introduces a sizable 6,000mAh battery, one of the biggest batteries in any phone; 18W fast-charging for when its power runs low; and a 6.6-inch HD+ display with 120Hz.
The device features 64GBs of storage and 2GBs of RAM, with the ability to boost it to 4GBs. You can also expand the storage by up to 512GB with the memory card slot.
A 13MP rear camera is accompanied by an 8MP front-facing camera to capture all your selfies.
Alongside the itel P40, a further four smartphones are available in South Africa. The itel P40, itel A60S, itel A60, itel A04, and itel A18 are available from select retail partners, including Mr Price and PEP (availability varies per store and while stocks last), and are priced at R1,999, R1,699, R1,499, R1,299, and R899 (recommended retail prices) respectively.
