Isuzu’s New Mu-X Adds a Fresh Option to SA’s SUV Market

Isuzu mu-X

Isuzu’s bakkies have been a hugely popular option in South Africa for quite some time, but they haven’t had a new SUV become a part of their stable since 1998. Their new Isuzu mu-X will expand their range to include a more sophisticated and leisurely SUV that will compete with other established Japanese brands that have a large foothold in the South African market.

Isuzu already launched the mu-X in Thailand, Australia, and the Philippines, where it enjoys a large market share – a feat they’ll be hoping it will be able to match in South Africa. It won’t be an easy task, though, as SUVs are exceptionally popular with a lot of different brands and models for consumers to choose from.

The exact engine, transmission, and chassis specifications haven’t been announced yet, but a 3-litre engine and 5-link rear suspension seem to be on the cards for the South African variant.
