Inner City Wine Route Brings the Wine Farms to You with Tuning the Vine!

If you’ve never been to Tuning the Vine to experience the #InnerCityWineRoute then now is the perfect time to get involved! This month Tuning the Vine is celebrating the #InnerCityWineRoute’s 1st birthday with a spectacular event on Wednesday, 12 October 2016 and everyone’s invited to the celebration. The #InnerCityWineRoute is all about getting Capetonians, who might not get the chance to go out the winelands too often, to sip, sample, and enjoy some of the Cape’s best wines without having to travel out of the inner city. That’s right, they bring the winelands to you!
With almost 40 producers lined up for this month’s event tuners are in for a true birthday treat. Tasting spots include the likes of newcomer Arcade and long-time favourites like Bacon on Bree, Culture Club, Door 221, Orphanage Cocktail Emporium, HQ, Weinhaus + Biergarten, The Odyssey, The Gin Bar, La Parada, House of Machines and more. As for the wines – some of the producers for October include Zevenwacht, Krone, Steenberg, Luddite, Thelema, Alto, Montpellier, Creation, Grande Provence, Buitenverwachting, Bloemendal, L’Avenir, Usana, Vrede en Lust, and Antebellum. That’s not forgetting the tastings of Terra Madre Normandie-style cider and Innis & Gunn craft beer.
The great thing about Tuning the Vine is that whether you’re a wine fundi, curious newbie or just trying to convince your friends that wine is a step in the right direction, the #InnerCityWineRoute has something for you. From Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Elgin, Robertson, Swartland, and Constantia to Bot Rivier, Paarl, Wellington, Darling and Hermanus, tuners have tasted more than 120 producer’s wines from over 10 of the Western Cape’s best wine regions since the #InnerCityWineRoute started last year.
Wine enthusiasts can join in on the fun on Wednesday, 12 October 2016 from 17:30 to 20:30. If you’ve never been before, then make sure you arrive early to make the most of the wine tastings before the venues fill up later on. The map provided for the route is a mere guideline but the idea is for groups to follow the #InnerCityWIneRoute in no particular order and visit venues as you please. And, once you’re done tasting be sure to stay for dinner at your venue of choice. A wide variety of food will be available for guests to enjoy including burgers, cheese boards, pizza, grills and more.
Tickets are available for purchase online via Quicket at R170 per person and your ticket includes a wine glass, tastings, and map of the wine route. Limited tickets will be for sale on the night at R190 per person. And, if you miss out this time around fear not because Tuning the Vine will also take place on Wednesdays 19 November and 7 December 2016. For more information say Hi to Tuning the Vine on Facebook.
