This is the Perfect Date Night Idea for Couples on a Budget! [Review]
Let’s face it; being coupled up can sometimes be expensive. Everyone wants to wine and dine their special someone on the regular but sadly, not everyone has the budget to splash out on weekly dinners at fancy-pants restaurants. Not until now that is. Thanks to HQ and their oh-so-fabulous date night special, couples in Cape Town can now treat themselves to a delicious meal at a fabulous restaurant on a regular basis (hallelujah!) Every Tuesday the steak joint invites couples to book a table and soak up the romance over a yummy steak dinner and a much-deserved glass of wine, all for just R250 per couple. It doesn’t get better than that! If you’ve never been to HQ then get familiar because Tuesday date nights at HQ are just what the wallet doctor ordered.
HQ is pretty much a meat lover’s paradise in Cape Town. Their signature dish is damn good steak, and when I say it’s good, boy is it great! Steaks are cooked just the way you like it, and in my experience, always come out cooked to perfection. Their famous steaks are topped with their signature Café de Paris butter and accompanied by HQ skinny fries to make up what can only be described as perfection on a plate. For starters there’s the delicious HQ salad of crispy cos and iceberg lettuce with toasted pine nuts, parmesan shavings and a vinaigrette dressing. The date night special gets you 2 famous HQ salad starters, 2 steak and chips mains and 2 glasses of Wolftrap red wine for R250 – a steal of note! Plus, to set the mood and amp up the romance you will be serenaded by the sweet sounds of live musicians. There’s no doubt about it, if you’re looking to impress someone special then HQ is the place to do it.
I also love the decor of this spot! The exposed brick walls, dark wood trimmings, buttery-soft leather seats, and soft lighting all work together to create a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere where diners can let their hair down for a few hours. After dinner you can retreat to the comfy and cosy lounge area of the restaurant and treat yourselves to one of HQ’s delicious cocktails or another glass of wine. This ultra chic area of the restaurant is a great place to continue the conversation, especially if you’re nowhere ready for your date to end!
Date night at HQ can get pretty busy so if you’re keen to experience this fabulous special then it’s best to book early! And, for the perfect Valentine’s date night, make sure your book you spot at HQ’s special Valentine’s Day dinner. The restaurant isn’t usually open Sundays but they’re making an exception for Valentine’s Day this year! The Valentine’s day menu includes a glass of Pierre Jourdan bubbly on arrival, salad starter, a perfectly grilled 125g sirloin with skinny fries, and a dessert tasting plate to share for only R550 per couple. Live entertainment will be provided by Savannah Unplugged.
