Groot Constantia Launches 3 Free Audio Tours

Groot Constantia

South Africa’s oldest wine producing farm, Groot Constantia, is celebrating its 333rd year of uninterrupted winemaking with a completely modern way of touring the estate: the launch of three free audio tours. The downloadable self-guided audio tours will enable guests to experience the estate’s many attractions in a new and exciting way – giving them even more reason to visit the Constantia winelands.

Guests can experience the tours by following a specially designed route through the well-known farm before heading out into the breathtaking landscape in the vineyards. Also available are real-life accounts of the estate from travellers who have visited it over history, and a viewing of a rare bottle of Grand Constance wine that was produced in 1821 in the Cloete Cellar – the only play where the wine was ever produced.

Anyone who has a smartphone is able to download the audioguides: Museum Tour, Cellar Tour and Vineyard Tour, and it’s completely free of charge – you don’t have to hold a Visitors Experience ticket to access any of the guides. Developed by VoiceMap – a local Cape Town design that merges tourism with modern technology – the app is a storytelling app that uses your location to automatically play the corresponding audiotape.
