Rooftop bars are all the rage in Cape Town at the moment and if you ask me there can never be enough spots to soak up the beautiful views of Cape Town’s Atlantic Seaboard while sipping on a delicious cocktail. That’s what you call the good life people. And yes, I have discovered another fabulous rooftop bar where you can enjoy the good life in the Mother City. The Grey Boutique Hotel’s Skybar takes that VIP feeling to the next level with chic, minimalist decor, a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and a sparkling pool to cool off in.
If you’re still not sure why you should seek out this fabulous rooftop pool bar before summer inevitably leaves us far behind then all you need to do is picture yourself lazing on one of their comfy L-shaped couches whilst sipping on a signature cocktail and admiring the 360-degree views of Cape Town high above the hustle and bustle below. Cool, stylish and sophisticated, The Grey Boutique Hotel’s Sky Bar is where those in the know go to hang out away from the crowds.
Situated in the super cool De Waterkant area, the Moroccan-inspired hotel offers 13 double suites with en-suite bathrooms, incorporating a minimalist feel for the young sophisticated traveller and the Skybar fits right in with the cool urban crowd the hotel aims to attract. Following a complete makeover in March 2017, the Skybar now offers visitors a cool elegance and stylish sophistication that begs you to stay a while. Of course, a rooftop bar just wouldn’t be complete without a signature cocktail. The Grey Standard (with Hendricks Gin, cucumber and fresh lime juice) is a definite must-try when you visit.
The Skybar is also the ideal place to host your next event – whether it’s a birthday party, kitchen tea, baby shower, or any other special occasion, The Grey Boutique Hotel’s Skybar will cater to your needs. I attended an event at Sky Bar catered by gourmet health food gurus, Scheckter’s Raw and the oh-so-fabulous rooftop bar proved to be the perfect setting to enjoy their many healthy treats. A day-time event complete with Scheckter’s Raw juices, sushi, salads, and healthy dessert is a great way to celebrate a baby shower or birthday with your girlfriends and there’s no doubt that this idea has popped to the top of my list next time I’m tasked with organising an event for a special friend.
