Get your Christmas Gift Shopping Done Early at the Festive Ideas Market
Get a headstart on your Christmas shopping and beat the queues with the annual Festive Ideas market. This year it’s set to make all those festive wishes comes true thanks to organiser Wilna Rabe who has compiled her personal wishlist and added some exciting new vendors. Finding the perfect gifts for your loved ones will be a cake walk!
Taking place at Simondium’s Country Lodge in Paarl, the market will run from 25 October to 29 October 2017 and will feature a trove of handcrafted, original items for your home, garden, wardrobe and even some deliciously luxurious treats. There will also be a definite organic focus with the much-loved Peacock Palace packed with organic touches, greenery and recycled beauties.
Looking to update your garden? Then look out for Super Sprout’s heirloom seeds, The Little Fat Plant’s hanging plants and succulents, Andreas Topiaries’ green sculptures and botanical art from William Schlechter. Simply in Concrete’s planters and Simondium Country Lodge’s enamels are also winners in the gift department. In the homeware and fashion department, look out for gorgeous linens, leather bags, jewellery and stunning homemade clothing.
The deli is the perfect pitstop to satisfy those cravings over the holiday season – enjoy cookies, fudge, brittle, preserves, honey, biltong and amazing Christmas cakes from chef Mynhard Joubert. If you’re peckish on the day then pop over to one of the food trucks for a bite to eat while taking in the gorgeous gardens, with a dedicated children’s play area.
Entry is R30 per adult with kids under 18 entering for free. Opening hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 09:00-17:00, but closing at 15:00 on Sunday. The Simondium’s Country Lodge is easily accessible on the R45 between Paarl and Franschhoek, only 60km from the Cape Town central, 13 km from the Klapmuts turn-off and a quick 15km from Stellenbosch via the Helshoogte Pass.
