Get Chocolate Wasted in July at Trees Restaurant, Cape Town

Too often, chocolate comes out for eating only after the meal is complete. But, the truth is most of us wouldn’t mind if it gets served at the beginning, middle, and end of the meal. Luckily for chocolate lovers in Cape Town July has been declared Chocolate Month at the Townhouse Hotel and you’re invited to celebrate this auspicious occasion by indulging all you like with decadent hot chocolates and a chocolate-inspired dinner menu at Trees Restaurant.
Be transported to chocolate heaven when you savour the chocolate treats on offer at this cosy Cape Town spot this July. Those looking for a quick chocolatey fix can pop into the Townhouse Hotel lounge and top up on chocolate cheer with the yummiest hot chocolate in town. Go for a heavenly treat by adding a topping of your choice (choose from marshmallows, Astros, peppermint crisps, cookies, and honeycomb) or be tempted by the wickedly wonderful version with a dash of Frangelico, Kahlua, Amarula or Amaretto. There will also be chocolate cocktails and shooters on offer for those looking for something even more adventurous.
For the hungry, Trees Restaurant at The Townhouse Hotel will also be offering a fine-dining menu infused with the finest chocolate. The restaurant will be serving a three-course dinner chock-full of delicious creativity, infused throughout with Von Geusau and Cocoa Fair chocolate, and optionally paired with exquisite Waterford Estate wines.
The menu sounds like a real treat with a starter of Ravioli of Confit Duck (served with dark chocolate, prawn popcorn, macadamia nuts, and a dark-chocolate-balsamic syrup), main of Venison Loin (fried with a hint of cinnamon, butternut fondant, pickled baby beet, cranberries, exotic mushroom vinaigrette, and dark chocolate scented jus), and a dessert of Dark Chocolate Fondant (with a rose-geranium chocolate truffle centre, raspberry marmalade, Turkish delight, and vanilla pod ice cream).
The 2-course menu of either starters and mains or mains and dessert is priced at R218 per person while the 3-course menu is priced at R278 per person or R458 per person with wine pairing. Diners will also receive a R75 voucher for the Wine & Chocolate Experience at Waterford Estate when ordering two or more courses from the Chocolate Month menu.
