Flood Your Soul & Skin with Wellness at Mount Nelson’s Librisa Spa [Review]

After years of working as an Editor and writer for…
Like many people, winter is the worst time for my skin. It freaks out the minute cooler weather starts to rear its ugly head, I’m talking dehydration, sensitivity, redness… the works! To help combat this I usually add a few more hydrating and calming products into my skincare mix during winter but my real secret weapon for happy, glowing skin during the cooler month is regular facials. My skin needs loads of hydration in winter, which is why I usually lean towards intensively hydrating facials treatments that offer long-lasting results. So, when I was invited to try the Sothys Hydra 3HA Intensive Facial treatment at Mount Nelson’s Librisa Spa I knew I had to try it.
While many facials will leave you looking like a million bucks when you walk out the spa door, few will keep your skin looking top notch for days or weeks after your treatment. I love a good pamper session as much as the next person but when it comes to facials I like to focus on more results-driven treatments that will help my skin in the long term. Luckily, for those looking for the best of both worlds, Sothys won’t make you choose between a pampering treatment and long-lasting treatment results. An intensively hydrating facial treatment with a generous helping of pampering thrown in for good measure, the 90-minute Hydra 3HA Intensive Facial treatment is a real spoil for the skin and the soul.
A hydration powerhouse
The facial promises to give clients a feeling of total hydration and combines triple Hyaluronic acid with Boletus extract to restore the skin’s natural hydration levels, leaving your complexion plumped up and your skin looking visibly younger. This facial is truly next level and includes a double serum application and a triple mask in a single facial treatment session. The facial follows six phases and is beyond relaxing thanks to the inclusions of Sothys Digi-Esthetique massage techniques throughout the treatment.
This luxurious and highly effective hydrating facial session is a must-try for anyone looking to give their skin a boost. My skin had an incredible glow after the treatment and I could see a definite improvement in my skin texture and hydration levels after the treatment. What’s more, the results lasted weeks after the treatment and really helped give my skin added protection from the harsh winter elements.
Librisa Spa: An urban retreat
Rather than rush back to the stresses of every day city life, after my treatment I decided to put up my feet and enjoy the facilities at Mount Nelson’s Librisa Spa. Offering a wide variety of spa treatments, complemented by a relaxation area, plunge pool, sauna, and Finnish spa, this inner-city day spa is a true urban sanctuary. If it’s a serene setting you’re after, you’ll find it in droves at Librisa. While many hotel day spas these days have chosen to go for the more slick, minimalist and modern spa feel, Librisa has chosen to stick with a more warm and cosy atmosphere. This spa has a lovely peaceful and welcoming feel to it that is hard to find these days.
After my treatment, I spent ages soaking up the zen feeling in the oh-so-inviting relaxation lounge. If you book a treatment at Librisa make sure you leave time to treat yourself to some ‘me time’ in this area. Located in a glass conservatory, the relaxation lounge is surrounded by greenery and even has a soothing water feature to lull you into a meditative like state. I was on cloud nine after my Sothys facial but having the chance to put my feet up and snuggle under a marshmallow soft blanket with a cup of tea was the cherry on the cake for me. The relaxation lounge also offers a selection of healthy snacks, juices, and teas to enjoy after or before your treatment.
With an incredible selection of treatments, fabulous facilities, and a cosy atmosphere, Librisa is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city when you’re craving some ‘me time’ or want to spend quality time with a special friend or family member. I would recommend booking off an entire morning or afternoon when visiting this spa to really soak in everything it has to offer.
The 90-minute Sothys Hydra 3HA Intensive Facial treatment is priced at R900. For more information and to see the full treatment menu, click here.
