Fabiani Surprises With Its First Ever Women’s Range

In a surprise and unconventional twist in honour of Women’s Month, an unsuspecting audience at this past week’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Joburg were the first ever to lay eyes on what was ultimately the launch of menswear label Fabiani’s first ever women’s collection. Expecting a menswear SS17 collection the audience was treated to a collection featuring womenswear instead!
Despite never having tailored to women before, this collection clearly reflects Fabiani’s unmistakable couture identity that for the past 40 years has been exclusively centred on menswear. Swapping hard suit lines for intricate beadwork and high voltage metallics, this innovative new range includes bold silk chiffons and graphic, feminine aesthetics.
Behind this revolutionary new collection is none other than highly acclaimed Cape Town-based designer, Warrick Gautier who’s collaborated with Chloe and Louis Vuitton and whose work is both locally and internationally lauded. It’s his French heritage and love of art that shines through in his Fabiani Women’s collection, along with his signature African-luxe couture tailoring.
The collection was inspired by the need in the South African market for luxury African clothing tailored for powerful, successful, progressive and sophisticated women. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to be collaborating with local design talent such Warrick, as a uniquely African aesthetic is central to this collection,” says Lyle Paul, Marketing Manager of Fabiani. Fabiani Womenswear marks the beginning of an exciting new era for the brand and is perfectly timed to celebrate Women’s Month.
Fabiani Women launches in flagship stores nationwide from 19 October 2017.
