Elevate Your Daily Grind with Goodmind Functional Mushroom Sachets

Step aside CBD, mushrooms are having a moment. The fungi are now moving beyond the traditional realm of the kitchen to your medicine cabinet as demand grows for functional mushrooms as health aids. The health trend goes far beyond the portobellos, shiitakes and button mushrooms you find in the produce section. These days exotic varieties such as reishi, chaga, cordyceps and lion’s mane are turning up in everything from powders and extracts to coffees, teas, smoothies, broths, chocolates, face creams and shower gels.
Local brand, Goodmind is one of the first to get in on the action, grabbing the bulls by the horns and running with the trend in South Africa. Goodmind has recently extended its product offering with the launch of water-soluble Functional Mushroom powder sachets combining 8 types of adaptogenic mushrooms.
Designed to be added to your morning coffee or blended into a smoothie, the sachets offer a way to elevate your morning cuppa with a health kick. If you’re looking for a caffeine-free alternative to tea or coffee, then simply add one 2g sachet to hot water for a warm mushroom tea.
Developed using a blend of adaptogenic super mushrooms, the recipe for the health supplement has been formulated to help enhance mental stamina, focus, and clarity. Goodmind says that in the same way that exercise trains the body to improve stamina, adaptogens train the mind to better handle the effects of stress.
The Goodmind mushroom sachets include Lion’s Mane (the smart mushroom), Shiitake (the healthy heart mushroom), Cordyceps (the recovery mushroom), and Chaga (the anti-inflammatory mushroom). The mushroom blend is completely non-psychedelic, 100% legal and safe to use, with no toxins or risk of getting ‘high’.
While you may think the powdered supplement would have quite a strong umami flavour to it, it’s not overpowering at all, and you can barely taste it in your tea or coffee when blended well. I’ve added it to my black rooibos tea every morning for the last month, and it goes down a treat. In a smoothie, the flavour is completely unrecognisable.
As for the effects, after a week of daily consumption, I can definitely attest to the benefits of Goodmind sachets. It may be a placebo effect, but I have noticed that I can focus better in the mornings after taking this supplement with my tea, and I’m usually terrible at getting going in the mornings. Incorporating this daily sachet into my morning routine puts a little extra pep in my step and I’m eager to continue with it to see the long-term results.
The powdered sachets come in a box of 20 for R395 and are available through Goodleaf stores as well as Wellness Warehouse. You can also grab a mushroom when you’re on the go at Vida. Goodmind and Vida e caffè have partnered to launch the Goodmind Functional Mushroom Cappuccino at select Vida stores nationwide.
Vida’s customers also have the option of purchasing a water-soluble Functional Mushroom powder sachet at the counter which can be added to your favourite Vida coffee, tea or smoothie.
The Goodmind Functional Mushroom Cappuccino costs R49, but the sachet can also be bought separately at R20 per sachet.
