Don’t Miss Out on the Celebration of Wine Event in Stellenbosch this August

Love wine festivals? Great news, a brand new wine attraction is coming to Stellenbosch and we’re holding thumbs it becomes an annual affair. Here’s why you should buy your tickets for the all new Celebration of Wine festivalby Stellenbosch Wine Routes.

Taking place from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 August this year, this exciting event promises to a new way to discover (or re-discover) the wines and wine people of the winelands. Through a handful of must-attend events, the weekend will be brought to life with a series of fine wine tastings, delicious fine dining experiences, and entertaining wine personalities at the cosy De Warenmarkt in the City of Oaks.

With a special focus on Women’s Month amongst all the festivities, A Celebration of Wine will highlight Stellenbosch’s winemaking heritage and internationally-recognised excellence.

The weekend will open on Thursday 2 August with a Boutique Brilliance & Big Bottles event, a walk-around wine tasting from 18:00 to 22:00, featuring a bunch of Stellenbosch’s finest boutique wine producers. Stock up on some of SA’s lesser-known, rarer wines with an entry fee of R290 per person. This cost includes a feast of mouthwatering canapés and a harvest table with a cheese fondue.

The Women-in-Wine brunch will take place on Friday 3 August, focusing on the winelands’ top female winemakers. Expect a delicious three-course meal served between 10:00 and 12:00 with bubbly and wines, and the winemakers themselves at centre stage. Tickets are available at R400 per person.

Next, In The Company of Legends is a formal dinner which also takes place on Friday 3 August later in the evening. Here, you’ll have the chance to meet and greet some of the region’s most esteemed winemakers over a premier four-course, food-and-wine spectacle. The dinner starts at 18:30 for 19:00 at a cost of R650 per person attending.

On Saturday 4 August, the Father & Son event will showcase some famous father-and-son winemaking duos. Over four courses paired with their signature wines, listen to the stories behind some of SA’s most well-loved wines at R750 per person.

Finally, end off your weekend on Sunday 5 August with a special lunch: The Cabernet Long Table event. This will highlight the region’s noble Cabernet Sauvignon wine variety paired with a four-course meal including dessert. You’ll also have the chance to bump into some famed local Cabernet Sauvignon winemakers! Tickets are available at R650 per person.
