Dedicated Broth Bar Opens in Cape Town

It’s official, bone-broth is the new Ramen! Trend obsessed foodies will no doubt know that bone-broth bars have been popping up all over New York, Sydney, and London and so, it was only a matter of time before the Asian delight that has taken the world by storm, reached South Africa shores. The owners of Cape Town’s popular The Gin Bar and Honest Chocolate have taken it upon themselves to bring this wholesome trend to SA with the opening of Cape Town’s first stand-alone broth bar, Marrow. Located on Bree Street (where else), the hip new spot offers a different side of Asian cuisine to explore.
Inspired by the ancient craft of Asian broth, Marrow offers a small but oh-so-intriguing menu for hungry and health-conscious Capetonians to savour. We love the fact that, besides being delicious, the free-range, grass-fed bone broths available at Marrow also offer numerous health benefits – that’s right, eating (or drinking) this stuff promotes good gut health, strong joints, and an improved immune system. The menu offers something for everyone, from meat eaters to vegans and pescatarian, with four different broth flavours served as a drinking broth (R30) or in a bowl (R65), with protein and veggies.
Diners can expect delights like Clear Bone Broth with soy, miso and toppings of roasted chicken, chorizo and spring onion; Brown Bone Broth with red wine and venison, and White Veggie Broth with coconut milk, roasted aubergine and tofu. The drinks menu also offers something different to enjoy along with your broth including things like Aceso fire tonic, honey-lemon tonic, or plum shrub all served with sparkling water.
Marrow is now open for both dining in and takeaways for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Find them at 83 Loop Street, Cape Town. For more information visit their website or say Hi to Marrow on Facebook.
