New Restaurant & Wine Cellar, The Shed, Opens at De Hoop Nature Reserve
De Hoop Nature Reserve, with its rich biodiversity, rare species of Fynbos, and untouched coastline bursting with marine life, is arguably one of the most beautiful getaway locations in South Africa. Well known and much loved for its variety of accommodation options to suit almost any budget, the nature reserve is a popular destination for everything from fun-filled family holidays to serene romantic getaways. Over the last while, the De Hoop Collection has been revamping the look and feel of its accommodation and entertainment offerings at the reserve and the latest stage of this exciting overhaul sees the arrival of a new on-site restaurant, The Shed.
Overlooking the vlei, the brand new, re-invented eatery replaces the popular Fig Tree restaurant and is sure to be become a firm favourite with both De Hoop day visitors and overnight guests alike. Offering visitors the opportunity to enjoy local culinary creations in a bigger and better space, the new restaurant was designed to cater to bigger groups in a more relaxed setting.
Those staying for lunch or dinner can grab a table in the stylish dining area or better yet, find a seat on the outside verandah to take in the breathtaking views of the vlei. Serving an a la carte breakfast and lunch menus, set dinner menus, as well as a selection of snacks, teas, coffees and cakes, The Shed offers guests a large variety of dishes prepared using locally sourced produce and healthy, wholesome ingredients. Wine lovers visiting the restaurant will adore William’s Wine cellar — located in a silo, this beautifully designed space in-the-round showcases the fine wines of the area in a wine rack that holds over 3 000 unique and acclaimed wines.
The now “old” Fig Tree restaurant has been transformed into The Cloete Room, a new relaxed sitting-area where guests are invited to unwind and sink into soft conformable couches. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a cup of tea after a long day spend exploring, chat to the on-duty reserve guides about the flora and fauna in the area, or just read a good book.

Special Offer: For those visiting soon. the restaurant is also running a special on a 3 course set menu at R295 per person until the end of September, thereafter increasing to R328 per person from 1 October 2018.
