Get Back to Netball in Cape Town and Help Children in Need!

So many of us ladies have fond memories of hitting the netball court during our school years but once we matriculate we say bye-bye to the super fun sport. Well, what if we told you that you now have an opportunity to get back to netball, get back to being active and meet some fabulous new women while you’re at it? The great news for netball lovers is that a group of Capetonian ladies from Back to Netball Cape Town has created a space where you can do just that! The Back to Netball Charity Netball Tournament taking place at Fish Hoek High School on 21 May 2016 is the perfect opportunity for women of all ages to hit the netball court for a good cause and enjoy a fun day out with their families and friends.
The charity netball tournament taking place in May is all about getting women back to playing the sport they love in a fun and safe environment. The tournament is the brainchild of Back to Netball Cape Town organiser Caryn Garabette who this year has made it her business to organise weekly social netball games for ladies living in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. The group of women from Back to Netball meet at a local school every Tuesday evening to play netball for 90 minutes and over the past year the ladies have formed firm friendships with each other and become more than just teammates.
The success of these social netball evenings prompted the group to start their own tournament in the southern suburbs of Cape Town and invite other teams to play against them and raise funds for a worthy cause at the same time. The tournament invites 16 teams with 7 players per team (and 1 substitute) to enter the tournament at R800 per team with all proceeds from the tournament being donated to the Western Cape Street Children’s Forum. This incredible charity aims to protect children from the harsh reality of street life by getting and keeping children off the street with services that include early intervention and protection, outreach, drop-in residential, education, therapy, family and community empowerment projects and programmes.
Of course, the organisers also have some treats and spoils organised for the entrants and their families with a wide range of prizes to be won on the day. Some fabulous sponsors have come onboard to ensure that the winning team will be spoiled with a hamper of goodies for each member of the team – the hampers includes treats such as Inner Secrets shopping vouchers, Wet n Wild lipgloss, African Extracts Classic Care Facial Starter Kits, and so much more.
Spectators and players also stand the chance to win a variety of prizes in the raffle draw taking place on the day. Prizes include a pamper hamper from African Extracts (valued at R500), a pair of Spanx athleisure leggings (valued at R1300), a champagne sunset cruise for two, and more!
