Celebrate the Festive Season with The Franschhoek Cap Classique & Champagne Festival
It’s that time again and what better way to end off the year with this annual weekend treat? The much-anticipated Franschhoek Cap Classique and Champagne Festival, aptly titled The Magic of Bubbles, is back for another year and is the perfect opportunity to cheers to the start of the festive season. Taking place over the weekend of the 5th and 6th December with a brand new theme – Black and White with a Touch of Bling – this year’s festival is set to be bigger and better than years gone by.
Raise a glass to good times as you mingle on the majestic lawns of Franschhoek with the iconic Huguenot Monument providing a spectacular backdrop, or relax in the grand marquee, all the while sampling some of the country’s finest MCCs and France’s best Champagnes. Also on offer are a range of delectable delights offered by local Franschhoek restaurants, including Bread & Wine, Haute Cabrière, Le Franschhoek, L’Ermitage, The Restaurant at Grande Provence and Mont Rochelle, that have cemented the region’s status as one of the world’s best culinary destinations.
Some of the popular local MCC producers included in the festival are Pierre Jourdan, Morena, Môreson, La Motte, Boschendal, Groot Constantia, Colmant, Genevieve, L’Ormarins, JC le Roux, Pongracz, Graham Beck, Steenberg and Villiera. There are also some new additions to the festival, with Maison Wine Estate, Grande Provence and Le Lude joining in on the fun. Some of the French Champagnes on offer include Piper Heidsieck, Billecart Salmon and Veuve Clicquot.
General Access tickets to the festival cost R200 per person and include access to the festival, which is open daily between 12:00 and 17:00, and a complimentary tasting glass and tasting coupons. Additional vouchers can be purchased on the day. Children under 18 years will be allowed free entry to the festival.
