Celebrate International Pinotage Day with Lanzerac Wine Estate

Tomorrow is International Pinotage Day and what better way to celebrate SA’s proudly unique grape varietal than at the home of the world’s very first Pinotage, Lanzerac Wine Estate in Stellenbosch. You can join in on the fun on Saturday 14 October for a fun day with live music, a Pinotage-inspired menu and of course, superb wines.
Here’s what you can look forward to:
A Lanzerac Pinotage tasting
Presented by Cellar Master Wynand Lategan at 11:00 and 13:00, the tasting presents a number of beautiful Lanzerac wines including the Pioneer Pinotage 2015 which recently won a spot in the 2017 Absa Top 21 Pinotage finalists.
Tickets cost R50 per person and seating is limited to 15 per tasting, so booking is essential.
Pinotage Picnic Baskets
Since October is synonymous with spring, why not make use of Lanzerac’s picnic baskets and enjoy a lovely lunch under the giant oaks or the on the picnic terrace overlooking the mountains and vineyards? Included in the basket are a whole host of tasty delights such as cheeses, charcuterie, smoked pork pâté with Pinotage jelly, mini baguette, Pinotage onion marmalade, country style quiche, gourmet cupcakes, a chocolate mousse jar, and a bottle of Lanzerac Pinotage Rosé.
Baskets must be pre-ordered and cost R400 per couple.
Stock up on Wine
Stock up on Lanzerac’s acclaimed wines for the festive season. Visitors to the Estate will qualify for a 20% discount when purchasing Lanzerac Pinotage or Lanzerac Pinotage Rosé on the day. In addition, a 10% discount will apply when purchasing any of the other Lanzerac Premium wines on the day from the Tasting Room.
Lunch at the Lanzerac Deli
Adjacent to the tasting room is the Lanzerac Deli, headed up by Executive Chef Stephen Fraser, who will cater to your culinary needs with a special Pinotage-inspired menu. Look forward to fresh oysters with Pinotage caviar, Pinotage and rosemary glazed lamb burgers, cheese and charcuterie platters and delicious gourmet mini pizzas for the little ones.
Live music
Enjoy the live music talents of Cape Town indie folk band BrotherBrother while you take in the breathtaking views, sample the lovely wines and indulge in the very best fresh produce.
