Cape Town Restaurant Launches Menu for Dogs

It’s official, Die Damhuis restaurant in Melkbosstrand is going to the dogs! That’s right, one of the city’s most pituresque restaurants is becoming even more dog-friendly with a brand new menu just for dogs. Every dog owner will tell you that their furry pooch is so much more than just a pet… it’s a member of the family! Of course, while your pup might be a part of every other part of your life, taking them along when you’re heading out for a bite to eat isn’t always an easy task. But now, thanks to Die Damhuis even your dog can head out for a nice relaxing meal at a great restaurant.
Located in Melkbosstrand, on one of the best dog walking beaches in the city, Die Damhuis’s new doggy menu is perfectly suited for a post-walk treat. Relax and unwind in a glorious setting both you and your pooch will love!
Dishes on the new doggy menu include the likes of Doggy chicken cubes (R54), Mini meatballs, Doggy Boerewors and Doggy burgers (R60 each). If you’re in the mood for a fine dining experience, a mouthwatering Sirloin steak is also available at R120. The clever menu also includes pet-friendly ice cream in flavours like ‘Blasting Biltong’ and ‘Swishin Strawberry’.
And, while Die Damhuis is super welcoming to pets, the restaurant wishes to remind guests that there are still rules regarding dogs that apply to both pet owners and staff. Dogs are only allowed outside the restaurant and are required to remain on leashes. Staff are not permitted to pet dogs unless they’ve received consent from the owner, and they are not allowed to feed animals directly (the food is delivered to the owner first to serve to their pet).
