After years of working as an Editor and writer for…
It’s time for another WomenStuff beauty round up! Every month our beauty desk is inundated with new beauty products to try – from new skincare product releases to fabulous new makeup items and more, there’s always something exciting to try. So, I decided to put them all together for you so you get all the reviews and news on the latest must-try beauty products. Most of the products featured here have been personally reviewed by me, so you know they’re aces but I’ve also included some interesting finds that I can’t wait to try. Here are 8 new beauty products to try in June!
Reviewed by me:
Tweezerman Facial Hair Remover:
I’m plagued by rogue chin hairs. Sometimes they pop up out of nowhere – long, dark, and far too proud for their own good. Other times they’re in full stealth mode – as white as snow, strong as an ox and virtually impossible to locate long enough to tweeze! Either way I find maintaining these rogue hairs can be a bit of a nightmare which is why I always travel with a pair of tweezers in my handbag, because you never know when they’ll strike! But, believe it or not, there’s a better way to handle these little buggers than tweezers. The clever sausages at Tweezerman have come up with the new, fancy-pants Tweezerman Facial Remover and it’s a winner of note for any kind of facial hair removal – whether you’re tackling chin hairs, upper lip hair or neck hair, it’s got you covered. At first glance you might mistake this little gadget for some sort of medieval torture device. But that doesn’t mean you should count it out as a must-have bathroom accessory. Sure you could spend ages trying to tweeze each hair individually but this little gadget with rotating handles will sort it all out in much less time and with very little fuss. It catches even the most stubborn hairs and I’m quite smitten with it! It’s also easy to use – just follow the directions on the packaging. The Facial Hair Remover will set you back R369 from Dis-Chem and also comes with a free smaller size slanted Tweezerman tweezer.
Bioderma Hydrabio Range (a winner of note!)
I have no idea where Bioderma has been my whole life but ladies this stuff is the absolute business! I never thought an affordable ‘drug store’ skincare range could do so much for my skin but Bioderma has officially become my new go-to skincare brand. I love so much about this new range for dehydrated sensitive skin and sometimes I could swear it was formulated specifically for me. Basically, the idea behind this new range is all about combating the damage caused by everyday pollution, stress, harsh weather conditions and more. The products in the range help to reactivate the skin’s natural hydration process on the upper levels of the skin giving it the strength to stand up to these irritants which cause the skin to become dehydrated, uncomfortable and more sensitive. The secret ingredient that gets the skin’s hydration process going again is a patented ingredient called Aquagenium and boy does it work! The range includes 6 products and I got the chance to try four of them including the Hydrabio H2O micellar water (R199 for 250ml), Hydrabio Riche cream (R319.95 for 40ml), Hydrabio Perfecteur SPF 30 cream (R319.95 for 40ml), and the Hydrabio Masque (R249.95 for 75ml). My favourites of the four were definitely the micellar water and the masque – I would highly recommend introducing these hero products into your regular beauty routine. The full range will be available at Clicks stores soon.
Mandy’s Hair Removal Cream
If you’re so over shaving then this new 50ml travel size hair removal cream is worth a look. If you’ve never tried hair removal cream before then this little bottle is the perfect way to start. It works wonders when it comes to removing leg hair, bikini line, or underarms and comes with a handy removal spatula inside the box to make your de-fluffing sessions so much easier. I love that the formula is infused with rose hip oil so it has a lovely smell and doesn’t leave your skin smelling all kinds of weird like some other brands on the market. Of course, the rose hip oil also ensures that your skin is left feeling smooth and moisturised afterwards. This stuff also works fast – in just 5 minutes your hair will be gone and you’ll be left with soft, hair-free skin that is ready to see the world. What’s more, it’s as cheap as chips – at just R30.95 for a box you can afford to buy it month after month. Find it at Clicks and other large retailers.
Morgan Taylor Winter 2016 Collection
Morgan Taylor has me all excited about winter with their fabulous new winter colour range! The new ‘Winter Garden’ range celebrates winter in the best way possible and features six winter floral colours ranging from pretty pinks to fabulous nudes. I am smitten with the Warm Up the Car-Nation (a pinky-purple) and the I Or-Chid You Not (a taupe crème). These colours will definitely brighten up your winter and are the perfect colours if you want to make a statement. These stunning new polish colours are available from 1 June 2016 and retail for R138 each at leading spas, salons, and pharmacies nationwide.
Interesting finds:
Please note: these products have not been reviewed by WomenStuff we just found them interesting!
Denman Tangle Tamer Ultra
Wet hair is highly vulnerable to damage so you need to use the right detangling brush! Wet hair swells and is very fragile and prone to breakage so make sure you let hair air dry for about 10 minutes or use an absorbent towel to remove as much moisture as possible before trying to comb it out. To minimise damage when combing out wet hair we love the sound of the Den-man Tangle Tamer Ultra. This nifty brush comes in a range of bright colours and glides through knots and tangles with absolute ease. Grab one for R160 at Dis-Chem.
Benefit Gimme Brow Eye Gel
If you struggle with barely there brows then this brow gel is your dream come true. The innovative brush-on fiber gel adheres to skin and hair to create brows even when you don’t have any. It builds easily for thick, lush arches, thanks to a tapered brush for blending and a precision tip for shaping. The gel is water resistant and is available in two shades so you can find your perfect match. Available from Red Square at R355.
Tangle Teezer Thick & Curly
Lasses with thick and curly locks will love this new addition to the Tangle Teezer range. This new brush is said to handle thick, curly and afro hair with ease thanks to its supersized detangling experience. Of course, as with all Tangle Teezer brushes it’s also super palm friendly and is easy to grip while brushing and combing. The Thick & Curly Tangle Teezer detangling hairbrush works perfectly on both dry and wet hair and can be carried with you on your travels for quick detangling on the go or left in the bathroom for post-shower detangling. The teeth are longer (an additional 4mm) and stronger than The Original with FIRMFLEX TECHNOLOGY that means teeth are firm but flexible so hair is detangled and brushed confidently with no pulling, tugging or tearing. The Tangle Teezer Thick & Curly is available at R240.00 from Clicks stores.
Invisibobble Around the World Collection
Hop on board as invisibobble travels the globe with it’s Around the World Collection this winter. Four new shades – Letter from Grey, Burgundy Dream,Universal Blue and Silky Season – will keep your hair up and out of the way in the colder months with warm wintery hues. These limited edition colours were designed by invisibobblistas themselves, as part of the invisibobble Around the World design contest. The talented winners each picked an invisibobble colour and designed one packaging to add flare to any beauty cabinet. Each packaging tells its own story uniting in a unique collection. If you’ve never tried invisibobble before then now is the time – the traceless hair tie places uneven pressure around the circumference of the ponytail, allowing hair to be held strongly in the ponytail without being too tight. Due to its smooth surface and invisibobble’s spiral shape, women can avoid headaches and prevent split ends. Created with artificial resin, invisibobble’s surface is very suited for those with allergies and neurodermatitis. Available now for R80 for a pack of 3 from retailbox.co.za and select salons.
