Win a R500 Shopping Voucher for Vintage Lingerie Store, Angels Lace!

After years of working as an Editor and writer for…
I’m quite sure that I was born in the wrong century! Given half the chance (and a time machine) I would definitely go back to the glory days of the 1950s… even if just for a day. Everything seemed so much simpler then and the fashion was just perfection. There’s just something about the way that 1950s fashion celebrated the female form that speaks to my soul. Curves, and lots of them were the order of the day back then and it was a time when women celebrated their sexuality. Alas, time machines don’t exist so a trip back to my favourite period in history isn’t on the cards. But, all is not lost quite yet because I’ve discovered a new online store that is going to go a long way in helping me embrace my inner 50s pin-up lass. If, like me, you love all things vintage – especially vintage-inspired lingerie – then you absolutely must check out the oh-so-awesome Angels Lace vintage lingerie store!
The unique online store launched in October 2015 and is owned and run by self-confessed vintage obsessed lass, Lindie Exenberger who says her love of vintage clothing, pin-ups, polka dots and anything retro, inspired her to launch Angels Lace. “There is something about the combination of elegance and cheekiness, and relative innocence in 50s fashion that you just don’t get any more,” said Lindie. Of course, there were also a few practical reasons behind launching the store; in fact the store was really inspired to solve a personal ‘problem’ that Lindie was experiencing with lingerie.
“I find both pantyhose and hold-up stockings very uncomfortable,” says Lindie. “I found that my only alternative is to wear a suspender belt but it’s almost impossible to get a decent suspender belt anymore. That’s when I started looking into vintage-styled lingerie and I found a solution to my problem combined with something I’ve always loved. There is something quite powerful about the idea of lingerie that is not only sexy but can also be practically worn. I am convinced I’m not the only women who thinks like this and so I launched Angels Lace.”

Angels Lace is a virtual Mecca for those who want something sassy but still demure in their lingerie drawer. The store is filled with everything from stockings and corsets to suspender belts, and matching bra and panty sets in black, red, white and, of course, red & white polka dot. Some of Lindie’s favourite pieces from the store include the Revival polka-dot suspender belt (R599) and the What Katie Did, Harlow peach suspenders. I love the sassy Revival lace teardrop corselette (R 799) and the Revival red & white polka-dot corselette (R 800)
The pieces in the Angels Lace collection are definitely investment pieces and since finding this store I’ve been inspired to start a savings fund just for lingerie! Of course, being so close to the festive season there’s no reason why you can’t spoil yourself with a few pieces now – go on, you’re worth it!
