1. Knead Bakery and Cafe
This Cape Town import serves up some of the most delicious breakfast dishes in Joburg! With freshly baked breads, omelettes, French toast, health breakfast and good old fashioned fried, poached and scrambled eggs on the menu you will be spoiled for choice at this spot. All their breakfasts are served with a choice of sourdough, buttermilk rye, 100% rye or seeded health bread. You can also opt for low-carb or gluten-free bread at an additional cost.

2. Warm and Glad
Offering favourites like scrambled eggs on toast, healthy dishes like oats and granola and decadent eats like pancakes and toasted banana bread, this is a must-visit breakfast spot. Warm and Glad also serves a decent cup of coffee and a rather fancy pants tea selection. Their breakfast menu runs ‘all day’ from 07:30 – 16:00 most days and from 08:30 – 14:00 on Saturdays.

3. The Perfect Cup
This joint is known for their absolutely spectacular sweet and savoury pancakes and oh-so-yummy coffee. If you’re looking for the perfect cup of coffee then this is where you will find it. All their coffees are roasted in-house and they’ve got quite an impressive selection (try 30 different flavours and blends!) The Bar One, Banana and Ice Cream pancake is not to be missed and, along with all their other pancakes, is served all day!

4. Arbour Cafe and Courtyard
If you love French culture then this classic crepery is worth a visit. Serving traditional French-style crepes and Galettes along with French ciders, Arbour Cafe is the perfect spot for a delicious breakfast with the ladies. The setting for this lovely eatery is also super cute and you’ll love dining in their pretty courtyard on warmer days or inside the pretty and intimate cafe on cooler days. 7. Cafe De La Creme
One of Melville’s most beloved bakeries, Cafe De La Creme serves up a wicked all-day breakfast. Choose from classics like scrambled eggs on toast or splash out and try their Eggs Royale or Eggs Benedict. They’re also known for their delicious croissants (they were actually voted as one of the best in Joburg!) which can be enjoyed with a fry-up or with some jam and cheese.

This Linden gem offers healthy breakfasts, traditional fry-ups. omelettes and French toast all day long. They are also well known for their yummy pancakes so don’t forget to keep paging past the breakfast menu to check out their pancake offerings. Their Chai Latte and coffees are also superb and will satisfy any caffeine or tea craving. Tucked away in the Lifestyle Home Garden Centre on Beyers Naude Drive this pretty little cafe is a great breakfast spot for those who want to get some chores done after brunch. Of course, the food is well worth the drive too! At just R38 for an egg, 2 rashers of bacon, a grilled tomato and toast the Early Riser breakfast is a great budget friendly option. If you’re not keen on a fry-up then try the flapjacks, health breakfast or Paw Paw Crumble!

Yes, yes we all know about Wimpy but we can’t do an all-day breakfast list and not include THE all-day breakfast spot! Wimpy might not be the fanciest place to grab breakfast but it’s still a South African favourite.It’s probably because they’ve got decent coffee and a rather large breakfast selection.
