Pamper Your Skin With Africology Skincare! [Review]

After years of working as an Editor and writer for…
Like most women I love beauty spas. They are quite possibly the most magical places on earth – I mean where else can you sit around in nothing but a bath robe while people massage your feet, hands and back. Unless you have your kids and husband very well trained, the answer is not many. I always try very hard to bring the spa feeling back home with me after my treatments but alas I very seldom succeed. Which is why I am completely in love with Africology’s skincare range! It’s the easiest way to bring a little bit of beauty spa magic into your home and into your morning and evening routine.
Before we begin I must admit that when it comes to skincare I’m the most undisciplined person on the planet. I’m constantly trying to cheat or make up excuses for why I don’t have to wash my face before I go to bed. Don’t get me wrong, I always remove my make-up at the end of the day (I’m not completely crazy!) but that next step of cleanser, exfoliator, serum, mask and moisturiser always feels like such a chore. Most nights I manage to force myself to go through the whole routine but there are days when I just can’t be bothered. Luckily for my skin that hasn’t been the case with Africology’s skincare range. This stuff smells so damn great and makes my skin feel so amazing that I actually look forward to using the products.
I tried Africology’s Purifying Cleansing Gel, Rose Absolute Tonic, Absolute Rose Serum, moisteriser and night cream for over a month and fell in love with the range. My favourite products in the range are most definitely the Purifying Cleanser Gel (R110 for 25 ml | R300 for 200ml) and the Rose Absolute Tonic ( R110 for 25 ml | R390 for 200 ml). The Purifying Cleanser Gel has the most divine spa-like smell that lingers on long after you’re done cleansing and I love that the product cleans your skin without drying it out. The gel contains quillaja extract and soapwort (both naturally mild cleansing and foaming agents) and gently moisturizing your skin while you cleanse.
As for the Rose Absolute Tonic (R500 for 30ml) it’s the best thing since PVR! I love mists and sprays and this one is one of the best. The skin-conditioning toner is blended with pure rose oil and helps tighten pores and balance the skin. It also contains witch-hazel (which has amazing anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial properties) and leaves the skin feeling super refreshed! In fact you don’t have to wait for your morning and night-time cleanse to use this product, you can spritz it on whenever your skin is feeling a little bit dry and luck luster.
The Rose Sereum is also all kinds of awesome. I love it so much that I used a little bit day and night, although they recommend that you only apply it at night. The serum contains rose extract (to calm and treat aging and dry skin) and can be added to your moisturiser for particularly dry skin or to combat the effects of cold, dry climates. It can leave skin feeling super oily if you don’t apply it properly or apply too much so make sure you play around with what works for you.
The Africology Moisteriser ( R310 25ml | R530 50ml) is a great day cream for those who want something that feels light on the skin but still packs a punch. It’s enriched with olive extracts, aloe ferox, marula oil, sweet almond, coconut, grapeseed and rich shea and leaves the skin feeling super soft. I also love that the Africology moisteriser is free from artificial fragrances. For a great result swop the moisteriser out for the Africology Night Cream (R600 50ml) in the evening. It contains beeswax, marula and olive extracts and helps to stimulate cell respiration.
I loved using this skincare routine and am definitely a huge fan of the brand now. If you’re not sure if the range will work for you then you can try the travel sizes first and then graduate onto the bigger product sizes. The packaging for both the travel and full sized products is simply beautiful and looked fabulous on my bathroom counter while I was using it.
You can shop for these products at an Africology spa near you or you can visit the Africology online store and have it shipped right to your door.
