Ready or not 2019 is here, and with it comes a variety of new (and old) fashion trends you’re bound to fall for. Something old and something new — this is what the 2019 fashion scene has in store for us. With tie dye print and feathers making a comeback, this year will focus on laid back, carefree, easy-to-wear fashion. Monotone outfits in bold statement colours and powerful patterned two-piece suits add a modern flair while checker-print fabric is here to stay. Here’s what to expect in women’s wear in 2019:
Tie dye is back in a big way
If you’ve saved all your multi-coloured DIY tie dye shirts from the hippy phase you went through during your teens, you’re in luck! The tie dye trend is a major key this year as demonstrated on the Spring/Summer ’19 runway.
Red, red, and more red
This strong statement shade is set to dominate clothing stores and the online shopping scene. Expect monotoned red outfits (such as the above runway look on Ashley Graham) accessories, shoes, lipstick and anything else you can dream up!
Look dapper in funky suits
Suits have been gaining serious popularity over the last couple of years but this year, they will feature bright colours and unique patterns for a quirky touch.
Checks make a comeback
Another favourite from your younger years, the chequered pattern is back! Striking prints — such as the much loved black-and-white square pattern, which was popular in the ’80s and 90s — are experiencing a major comeback. Easy to throw on with no need to accessorise, the check print is perfect for lazy days.
Adorn yourself with feathery details
Feathers featured all over the runways towards the end of 2018, adding a natural twist to pieces from jewellery and accessories, to clothing, and they’re sure to stick around for 2019. Look out for denim and feather pairings, which is set to be a huge trend.
