Calling all gin lovers, it’s time to celebrate on Saturday, 12 June as it’s officially World Gin Day. That’s right, a whole day to celebrate the popular drink we’ve all come to love. Whether you like yours topped off with original tonic or ginger ale and finished with a flourish of lemon or cucumber, there’s never been a better time to sip gin to your heart’s content.

To help you celebrate this auspicious occasion, we’ve put together 3 easy gin cocktails you make at home this weekend. Simply buy a bottle of your favourite gin and channel your inner mixologist:

Roku Gin Winter Highball

Roku Gin Winter Highball 

 

Ingredients

Roku Gin 25ml
Lime Juice 15ml
Sugar Syrup 15ml
Soda 70ml

Method:

Mix all ingredients together.
Double strain over ice and top with soda water.
Garnish with a slice of lime.

Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice Spritz

Ingredients:

50ml Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice
50ml sparkling wine
150ml tonic water
Cucumber ribbon and a slice of orange as garnish

Add all ingredients to a large wine glass filled with cubed ice.
Stir gently to mix.
Garnish and serve in a tall wine glass or champagne glass with ice.

The Wixworth Collins

Wixworth Gin

While there are numerous legends surrounding its origins, just about everyone agrees that this sweet and sour cocktail is one of a kind.

Ingredients

50 ml Wixworth Gin
25 ml Lemon juice
25 ml Sugar syrup
Soda Water
A lemon wedge (for garnishing)

Method

Pour Wixworth gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup into a shaker over ice.
Give it a good shake, strain into a glass filled with ice, and top up with soda water.
Serve in a tall glass over ice.

To make your own sugar syrup, boil equal parts water and white sugar (1:1) until dissolved and chill before use.
